Weather briefs: Curbside collection of limbs
By Staff Reports

Last Modified: 12/13/2007 12:18 AM
Homeowners wanting to get rid of their fallen tree limbs should simply take them to the curb for collection.
It's not necessary to break them down into bundles, said Dan Crossland, Public Works Department deputy director of public facilities.
"If you can get it out there, we will haul them away," said Crossland, adding that it will be several days. "We are still busy clearing the roadways."
Call the Mayor's Action Center at 596-2100 to schedule a pickup.
Tree debris also can be taken to one of two city greenwaste sites that are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
One is at 10401 East 56th St. North and the other is on South 71st Street east of Elwood Avenue.
Disposal at those locations is free for people who can show proof of residency with a current utility bill or a driver's license.
Broken Arrow debris pickup
Broken Arrow has designated five dropoff sites for residents to dispose of debris.
Spokesman Keith Sterling said the sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; Dec. 26 through Dec. 29; and Jan. 2 through Jan. 13. The sites will be for residential debris only; debris delivered by tree removal companies will not be accepted, he said.
City workers will not assist in unloading of debris, and materials will only be accepted during the designated hours when the locations are staffed, Sterling said.
The locations include
Nienhaus Park football field parking lot, east of Ninth Street on Juneau Street; Arrowhead Park parking lot, First Street and Washington Street; Jackson Park parking lot, Washington Street east of Garnett Road; Trailhead parking lot on the south side of New Orleans Street and west of the Creek Turnpike entrance; and Indian Springs Sports Complex parking lot, west of Aspen Street on Shreveport Street.
Sterling said city crews are continuing to clear debris from city streets, and residents may leave their tree limbs at the curb, but the limbs may not be picked up until after Jan. 1 or later.
The limbs must be cut in 4-foot-lengths and stacked neatly away from water meters. Sterling said signs will be posted at subdivision entrances noting specific pick-up times.

Look at the difference between policies for Tulsa and BA. Tulsa will pick up everything, just get it to the curb. Broken Arrow residents will have to cut everything in 4 foot lenghts and stack it neatly to receive assistance for debris removal. Thanks Tulsa for knowing how difficult this is going to be for your residents. Broken Arrow City -- get a clue!!!
