About 89,000 homes and businesses remained without power Friday afternoon, utility officials said.

"The number is really starting to drop, and we're going to have a good work day today," said Preston Kissman, AEP-PSO vice president of distribution.

"I think it's going to start to fall fast."

At peak, about 246,000 outages were reported since Sunday's ice storm hit.

We have been without power since about 1:00 Monday morning....but I am thankful for all of the people who are out there working today in the cold so that hopefully I will be warm and cozy in my house very soon! It's amazing that 150,000 homes and businesses have been restored in 2 or 3 days! THANKYOU!

I am glad to see so much help coming in from around the nation. But I can't make sense why I live so close to PSO's office building and the fair grounds (staging area), why my whole neighborhood is in the dark. And I have almost been hit twice by utility trucks on the highway. Once coming home from work last night, and once going to work this morning. They just switch lanes, and do not even look. Last night a group of them hit their brakes, because they almost missed their exit, and basically made a left hand turn across 3 lanes of traffic. I mean thanks for helping, but I have no clue how I came out of that unscratched. I thought for a second that I was going to die, my heart was racing for a long time after that. Any one else having trouble like this?

Hey Frank, count how many times you used the word "I" in your paragraph and I think you'll see where the problem is.

Hello Ben,

Sorry my previous post was not as formal as you would have liked. It was not intended to be viewed as an opening statement for a literary work. The question still stands, is anyone else had trouble with the nice line men and their king of the road attitude?

I live on 52nd Pl North between North Peoria Ave and N Hartford. I've been told that it will take 2-3 addtl weeks to have power restored in my neighborhood. It seems that everytime there is a power outage, PSO takes its time to restore power in North Tulsa. Is this a racial issue? Are all of those extra repairmen being told to address North Tulsa last? If so, this is despicable and PSO and Mayor Taylor should be ashamed.

It's great to see the extra lineman army pouring into town to help us out. Would you guys quit griping? For Pete's sake...

I really appreciate all of those volunteers traveling away from their families so close to Christmas to help us out. People need to stop complaining and just appreciate all the hard work they are doing. Also the tree cleaning crews are doing a great job. My power has been out 5 days now and they are in my area and I really appreciate everything they are doing.

Would people please stop trying to turn this into a race issue. It's all about the trees needing to be cleared before PSO can do any work. It's not because you're black, white, orange, or blue with pink poka-dots. It's also not because you are rich or poor.

H Charles, Have you looked around?

Theres utility poles tangled up, snapped in half, live wires lying all around, its a horrible mess. The further north you go, the worrse the mess seemed to be. Its not about race, it has to do with whats the quickest fix. If it takes 20 min to restore 500people vs. 24 hours to restore 12, what do you think they will pick?

I am in S Tulsa & on day 5, no power, it isnt just north tulsa, it isnt race, or anything else but a big fat mess.

Come on my fellow Oklahomans !!! I know everyone has had enough of being without power to our homes; setting in the dark and cold. Or getting crumpy for setting in those long lines at the intersections where the stop lights are not functioning. But how about when we see the linemen or the tree trimming crews we give them a thumbs up; or honk your car horns and wave !!!! Oklahoma has been through allot in her history.....from the land runs to the dust bowl to the Oklahoma City bombing we survived them all. We are Oklahomans.....we can endure !!!! So again, lets show those who are out there to help us in our time of need; that we are a friendly and very grateful people !!!!

Charles, do everyone a favor and get that stick out of your butt. If you look at the PSO site and the outage map, you'll see that North Tulsa has as much or more restored power than most of the city, including midtown where the rich white folks live.

Frank--Do you really think the electric grid is routed to their "offices" first then elsewhere??? Not sure about the Fairgrounds, but they may not have been on line, as I figure they have back up generators there. Did you not see they were "big truck" and even think they were from out of town, and didn't know the roads. Smart people see out of state tags and watch for unexpected turns and etc, just like smart ones do in other states when they see you.

I have seen the slams against Verdigris Valley Electric Coop, and yes they may be small, but if it wasn't for the Coop's, rurqal Oklahoma wouldn't have had electric years ago, as the big power companys couldn't make money doing rural area, so why after all these years would the Coops want to give their time and money investments to PSO. You should have knew who your power supplier was when you bought your place. Charles--my mom lives near 46th and N. Cincinnati had her's on yesterday, oh yeah she's white and guess they ot hers up first. Raicst---that's the first thing out of a Black person's mouth when others get something first. Racist also is also backwards, from blacks to white, but you never hear that. Heck we lacked 1 hour short of 11 days, last January without electric, butt-ass cold, ice on the roads and you people complain......Get real, get smart and get off racist crap....and more importanly get off your asses and do something good for yourself, your neighbors and mankind.

DW, American neighborhoods are the last frontier of racial segregation. The suburbs with newer homes and updated infrastructure (i.e. buried power lines) tend to be mostly occupied by white citizens.

Many minorities live in upper midtown and north Tulsa in older homes with equally aged infrastructure.

Nature doesn't discriminate; however, our country has historically treated individuals differently because of racial and cultural differences, thus the differential treatment (that makes sense in this case) can be seen as the product of decades of injustice.

Oh yeah...the out of state people...yeah thank them along with the local PSO people and support groups, but a lineman knows the job he got into with being exposed to the weather and the danger of the job, for which they are paid big bucks per hour, and when you run up all that overtime, it doesn't take a smart person to know that most are not here "just for helping" but for the money. Can't say I blame them.

I work for the money too-however, its nice here, "Thank you", "Great job". Its nice knowing your are Appreciated.

And i think it is ignorant to start slinging that word around "racial" i'm so tired of people saying its a racial thing when things dont get done the way they think or done by the time they think it should be done.

Excuse me. I do not appreciate my intelligent level being insulted. I was merely asking a question, and stating my experience. The rhythm of your sentence structure is lacking. Here is a hint, read it out loud before hitting submit. I did not see their tags, that portion of the expressway currently does not have power, and I do not drive close enough to their back bumper to read what state they are from. And if you have not noticed, they are almost always following a local PSO truck.

And no I do not think their electric grid is routed to their main office. Of course there is a rather large substation right next door, so who knows.

Frank, These people have come from all over the country to help us. I have seen trucks from as far away as Virginia, Georgia and Ohio. We should be thankful for the blessings that have been bestowed upon us. I live in midtown and I still don't have power either but am grateful that these people are here to offer help. They don't have to be here and without them we probably wouldn't have power until next year. You are a jerk and I hope they save your house for last.

Whether they are making big bucks or not I applaud them. It is still a dangerous job. Some of my family members are still without power but as long as you can be reasonably warm and dry and have something to eat you are still better off than more than half of the whole world! Be thankful for what you have.

I live at 61 and Riverside. I have not had power since Sunday around 1 PM. I hopefull that tonight is the night.

I've been lucky that my work contracted a local gym to allow us to bathe.

Here to all of us having warm well lit homes buy Saturday morning.
