Rodney was my friend and partner for many years. He was a physician of good character, moral integrity, and most importantly, good humor. He will be sorely missed.

Rodney was a very special man. He was someone who was always smiling and always had a very positive attitude. Our sons grew up together and we all enjoyed watching the boys play baseball together. He will be missed by everyone in our family. Rodney was a friend we all need.

I was very shocked to hear the news today, I alway enjoyed visiting with Dr Huey whenever the opportunity arose during my professional career in medical sales. I last saw him in Chicago a month or so ago and was very excited about his upcoming position at BCBS. He was always willing to take a few extra minutes and really always brightened my day when I saw him.

I have known the Huey's since Ryan was 2 years old. I would baby sit for them when I was in college. Rodney was always so kind and always had a smile to greet me when I would come over to sit for them. I greatly admired and respected him. Linda and Ryan you are in my thoughts and prayers. With much love, Karen

Dr. Rodney Huey was a very special man who I had a great deal of respect and admiration as a man and professional. His loss is everyone's loss at not only Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma but also the other Blues plans, with which he interacted. He set a positive example for all who worked with him. I spoke with him shortly after he was promoted to plan president in Oklahoma and he happy and humble about the situation. I could think of no one else more deserving of the post and I am truly saddened by the fact I won't have the opportunity to work with him again. While I never knew his family, I am sure they must be wonderful people as a person of his character and caliber could only be surrounded by other wonderful people.

I've known Rodney since he first started at Blue Cross in 1992. I worked for him for a year, and have many happy memories of him. He was a blessing to me when my fiance suffered a stroke at the age of 40, and was always there to offer encouragement and support. Whenever I think of Rodney, I see the huge grin he always had on his face, and the bright character ties he so loved to wear. I know how much Rodney was looking forward to leading us at Blue Cross Blue Shield as our latest Plan President, and I am sad that we will have missed out on having a truly great and humble leader. He will be missed by us all, but I am grateful that I had the chance to know him, and to count him as one of my friends. I have faith that he is in a better place, and already planning what he can do to make a difference there! To Linda and Ryan, I hope you can take comfort in knowing how many lives Rodney touched, and how universally loved he was.

I have not seen Rodney in years and just learned of his passing through a friend who works with Blue Cross, and I am very saddened - I counted him as a friend. I first met him when I worked at Hillcrest and he was a new physician. When my wife, who was a Hillcrest nurse and was also friends with Rodney, was dying of cancer, Rodney helped me out - both medically and spiritually. One day when my wife was a patient at Hillcrest and at the point of end stage, Rodney dropped by her room to check on things and, because I'm sure I didn't look too well, he took me across the street to the office he was about to open for his first practice. He gave me a prescription to help me sleep, since I hadn't been, and then we just talked - he got my mind off of the things that I had been dwelling on. We joked about me being his first patient in private practice and he wasn't even taking any payment for it. I am glad I was able to know him, and will always be in his debt.

I met Rodney at Texas Christian University. He was a devoted friend to those who knew him and always a lot of fun. Always cheerful, always smiling. And brilliant. My fondest memory of Rodney is his late night invitations to go over to BlueBonnett Circle and eat Chinese food with whoever he could round up at that time of night. We needed that break during long nights of studying. I am pleased to know he was so successful in his career and had a loving family.
