Outages drop below 10,000
By Staff Reports

About 8,300 outages are still being reported in the Tulsa area, but AEP-PSO expects those without meter damage to have their power restored by noon Wednesday.
The number has fallen from 246,000 reported outages since the Dec. 9 storm.
Statewide, about 38,000 homes and businesses are without power. OG&E has about 23,000 customers with no electricity.

The PSO map said last night for the 31st & Peoria, and I see them in the neighborhood, but no one's been to my house yet, and they have to connect the wires to my new fusebox. The wire is laying on the ground. They'll have to really hit it to get us up by noon.

Was told by PSO it'd be Monday, then Tuesday "by midnight", still no power. I don't quite believe their 'noon on Wednesday' either.

I saw on 86th st N to the E of hwy75 they had to replace about 14 poles and rerun the wire.
i think a lot of people are having trouble realizing the true extent of the damage. Pretty much everything that held up the grid was brought down in a HUGE area with the expection of the steel towers. Had the temps been 2-3 degrees cooler on Wednesay there would still be over 100k out of power today due to the main structures failing.
It's been rough on those of us without power but they have really done a good job handling the biggest power outage in Oklahoma history.

#3 I got the same runaround...it's Wednesday morning and still no power in part of my neighborhood, my house included. Let's just say I'll believe it when I see it.

Just FYI there is a tree crew in from Georgia that did a great job for me in north Tulsa. G&S tree service Glen Clark cell 706-766-8011. Fair price professional had all the big equip worked fast and safely I would give him a call again if we had to do it again. The more people in an area the better the price because they have to move the big trucks from area to area. Hope this can be of help.

#1 - We are in the same boat; our neighbors are up and we aren't. The crazy thing is, they were in our yard the night they restored our neighbors! But according to the mayor's action line, we aren't the only ones in our area waiting to have the lines connected to the house. Is that supposed to be comforting, or does this mean that the crews in our neighborhood are skipping the line to home cases and other crews in other neighborhoods are more thorough and taking care of the lines in yards? I'm not bitter - Day 10.

Huge thanks to Progress Energy from Asheville, NC who got our neighborhood back up and running.
Additionally, I'd like to thank PSO/AEP as well as all of the other out-of-state crews. You people have done a fantastic job in response to an unprecedented disaster. You are vastly appreciated.

Send some reporters (and Mr Penrose) to Sunset Terrace, Maple Ridge, between 31st and Hazel at noon for the big switch on! I think you might have a story.

The linemen don't work by area, but by numbers. If grid A has 10 people & grid B has 5, grid A is going to be up first even if they're on the same street. My neighbors were up Wed, mine was back Sun because I'm on a smaller grid.
Thank you PSO/AEP & especially all the men & women who came here to get us back online. We're all grateful for your hard work.

TulsaGuy, you said it perfectly. We had to drive to Southeast Kansas on Sunday, and I was overwhelmed by the miles and miles of downed lines and poles. Considering the enormous job for all of the lineman from Oklahoma and other states, I think they have done an incredible job and deserve our gratitude. I know it's hard to feel that when you've been without power for such a long time but the magnitude of the job is really astounding.

PSO wants you to have power they are not making money if you're not using electricity. Remember, these service men and women from out of the area are using their vacation time to be here. I'm quite sure they would rather be with their families during the holiday season. I don't work for a power company but I'm a child of a retired fire fighter who fought fires in Utah and California for weeks at a time on his own time. Being without power is an inconvenience but it could be worse. Ask any child in the hospital this holiday season if they'd trade places with you.
Remember your blessings.

Unfortunately, Anna, PSO is going to ask for permission to implement a rate hike to make up for the money that they lost during the outage. So we probably will still basically have to pay for electricity we didn't even use. I know, I know, it's not a done deal, but they were rewarded permission for a rate hike after last year's ice storm, which wasn't nearly as bad.
.
I didn't get my power back till yesterday afternoon around 4:00 (in Midtown), but I'm still certainly thankful for all the work that the linemen and out of state crews are doing. I do remember my blessings.
.
But having to essentially pay for power I didn't use? Definitely doesn't fall into the "blessing" category for me.

Dont you think that PSO will get rembursed for the money lost since we are declared a disaster area? why does everyone think that they will ask for a rate hike?

It is one thing to have the electricity up in an area and another to be able to connect your house to the grid in your area. My daughter continues to wait for an electrician to hook them up to the electrical lines that have already been restored for that area.

Oklahoma City metro residents with damaged meters are getting free repairs, money is provided by FEMA, see the story: www koco com/news/14893578/detail html (replace the spaces in the address with periods) The number to call is toll-free: 1-800-627-3464 7am-7pm. Maybe Tulsans can qualify, too, since they are one of the counties in the National Disaster Declaration and the money is coming from FEMA. One important thing to remember, from the article, is that IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED YOU CAN NOT BE REIMBURSED. So you should call first.
Why isn't Tulsa on the list of cities who get free meter repairs? I'd be upset if I was in Tulsa and left out of this program

Okay the people saying they are getting the run around by PSO by getting told one time then it not being on. Do you not know what the word estimate means? Nothing is guaranteed w/ the times given. They are working 16 hour shifts to get YOUR power back on. People say they cant get ready for Christmas w/ out power. Do you think the men out working are getting a lot family time in? They aren't. They are tired working everyday for 16 hrs. Laura Ingles lived her entire life w/out electricity her entire life and did just fine. You have yourself so programmed to believe you cant live without it but you are wrong, it is possible. I know it is hard but it can be done. It is amazing how people dont realize the extent of the damage done in the area. I know people saw it they lived there. Its all going to be okay.

Those of u who complained about estimates & timelines...get a grip.
Reality is estimates are a guess.
The simple fact that they weeks ahead what other locations have done when in similar outages is very very excellent.
THIS even include a town near NY that took weeks to even get to 50%.

"T Bone Steak", pull your head out and re-read what I wrote. I didn't come on here and bitch about not having power for 10 days or not getting it back more quickly. I didn't come on here and bitch about the mayor or PSO or whatever other powers that be not acting quickly enough to satisfy my own arbitrary timeframe. I didn't come on here and bitch about the city or PSO or Paul Bunyan not coming out and cleaning up my broken tree limbs for me.
.
The only thing I'm "bitching" about is that we're probably going to have to basically pay for service we didn't use. My cable/internet/phone are still out, yet Cox OFFERED (I didn't even have to ask) to pro-rate my bill so I'm not paying for service I didn't receive. And sure, my electricity bill that covers this period should be relatively low. However, if PSO gets their way, then the following bills will be *higher* to make up for the service we didn't use during the outage. Why should PSO be able to hike up the rates to essentially charge us for service we didn't use?
.
If that kind of thinking actually makes me a "spoiled brat", then I'll no longer look at that phrase as something derogatory.

day 12 for me with no relief in site. I dont think that they should do that either heather, you usually pay when you recieve a service, that is how it works. I wouldnt go out to eat and pay for something I didnt eat or drink, and I am sure that T-Bone Steak wouldnt either. PSO=Power Southside Only!

How is your Grandmother feeling? I hope she is feeling better.
I hope you do get your power real soon.
