Correction
An explanation of the Oklahoma Poll in this story listed the wrong numbers for Republicans and Democrats who were asked their preferences in the Feb. 5 presidential primary. Republicans totaled 330, with a margin of error of plus or minus 5.39 percentage points. Democrats totaled 358, with a margin of error of plus or minus 5.18 percentage points. Also, 735 registered voters who said they plan to vote in the Nov. 4 general election were asked whom they prefer in the U.S. Senate race. The margin of error on the U.S. Senate question was plus or minus 3.61 percentage points. In all, 745 registered voters took the survey, including 338 Republicans, 380 Democrats, 26 independents and one Libertarian. All Oklahoma Poll results listed in Wednesday’s paper were correct.

Sooners split on Bush, generally like Henry and both senators.

Approval ratings for President Bush, U.S. Sens. James Inhofe and Tom Coburn and Gov. Brad Henry remained steady through the last nine months of 2007, according to the most recent Oklahoma Poll.

The survey of 745 likely Oklahoma voters was conducted Dec. 16-19 by SoonerPoll.com.

Inhofe's approval rating of 56 percent was essentially unchanged from April, the last time the Oklahoma Poll asked about his job performance. Inhofe appears to be well on his way to election to a third full term in November despite hopeful sounds from Democrats

backing the candidacy of state Sen. Andrew Rice.

Sixty percent of those surveyed favored Inhofe over Rice, with just 19 percent going for the young Democrat and 21 percent undecided. Inhofe was the pick of three of every four Republicans surveyed and nearly half the Democrats.

Rice, meanwhile, had the support of only 28 percent of his own party.

Bush's statewide approval rating remained steady at 47 percent, divided sharply along party lines. Seventy-one percent of Republicans said they think Bush is doing a good job, compared to only 26 percent of Democrats and 31 percent of independents.

Coburn's approval rating was at 58 percent, virtually unchanged from April's 60 percent. Like Inhofe, he remained highly popular with Republicans and approaches a 50-percent favorable rating among Democrats.

Henry's approval rating came in at 76 percent, down from 83 percent last January but about the same as April. Eighty-two percent of Democrats and 69 percent of Republicans said the second-term governor is doing a good job.

Approval ratings

Please tell me whether you approve or disapprove of the way he is doing his job?

 Approve Disapprove Don’t Know/Refused
President George Bush 47% 47% 6%
Gov. Brad Henry 76% 16% 8%
Sen. Jim Inhofe 56% 24% 20%
Sen. Tom Coburn 58% 22% 20%

How could only 47% of Okies disapprove of President Shrub? What are you other 47% smoking to have any faith in this insufferable incompetent? And 56% for the only numbskull in the US Senate who doesn't believe in Global Warming. Can't understand what you all are thinking.Even the liberal Dums are right about this guy, and I know they don't amount to 56%.At least you all know how to pick a Governor.

The juvenile, fake oracle is at it again, trying to counter the highly accurate, wise, insightful opinions and wise assement of the political scene.Remember the original Oracle knows that fat AL is using scare tactics and that The Prisident of the United States is standing firm against those who would take our freedoms away. The fake oracle in #1 uses my identity in a pitiful attempt to make readers think that #1 has original ideas and comments.

My God, Oklahoma has lost over 60 fine young men and women in George Bush's war. They are NOT protecting our freedoms, Iraq was never a threat to the USA.

Inhofe is so old he can't see the smog in Tulsa, and realize pollution IS Global Warming.

And, as I have stated before, T. Coburn is just an embarrassment to the state.

I can rest with this fact, Oklahoma has never been the decider for presidential elections.

once again the ignorance of Oklahomans is on display if this poll is any indication It is a shame the #2 oracle is as dumb as the rest of the "good ol boys" around here. Come on peope get rid of Inhofe and Coburn, take some pride in real leadership and just vote them out

Thank God for Sen. Jim Inhofe. I would never vote for a liberal wacko like Rice. Did you know Rice supports abortion on demand at any age? Did you know Rice would allow gay people to adopt straight children? Did you know his is ready to pass laws to outlaw gun ownership?

Seasons greetings to all

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the onlyAmerica in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wishee.

Have a Happy Non-Denominational Winter Holiday

TO ALL MY REPUBLICAN FRIENDS:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I don't know why anone likes Henry. All Henry has done when he is in Oklahoma is get gambling passed. other than that he has done nothing. he hasn't done anything useful since he has been in office.

I kind of like the sound of this Rice guy. :)

Although, abortion wouldn't be such a problem if we educated our children properly and birth control was free and easily available. Democrats don't want to take away guns, they just want responsible ownership, and don't see how submachine guns, for instance, are necessarily included under the right to bear arms.

As far as gay couples adopting children, why the heck not? The straight couples who had them were unfit, what makes them not? I have known several gay parents, and they did a great job.

It is a marker of how broken our system is that Bush, Coburn, and Inhofe got elected to begin with.

No worries, Oracle #2: Nobody would ever make the mistake of attributing an original idea or comment to you.

I'm appalled at the mayor's complete lack of ressponse to the global warming ice storms.

We the citizens of Tulsa call upon the mayor to address the global warming crisis at once with a comprehensive plan to reduct the ice storms and mitigate the impact global warming has on our city, state, nation, and the environment around the world.

We need action now.

Rice is an elitist liberal. In Muskogee last month he told us, "if you people would listen to me I'll tell you what's best for you."

He will not carry the Democrat stronghold of Muskogee.

Rice would represent our state very well. Inhofe has been an embaressment and I hope he gets defeated soundly. It's time that we have a progressive Senator that favors common-sense legislation that will move this country forward.
