ORU regent to lead committee structuring presidential search
TAPPED
Dr. Glenda Payas:
She is an ORU graduate and one of its regents.

Read the latest ORU stories, view the lawsuit and other documents and watch slide shows and video.
Oral Roberts University announced Wednesday that one of its regents will lead a study committee that will set the presidential selection process.
ORU's board of regents appointed Dr. Glenda Payas, a Tulsa specialist in laser and cosmetic dental surgery, as chairwoman of the presidential search study committee, according to a news release.
Payas received her degree in dentistry from ORU in 1986 and three master's degrees -- in natural sciences, guidance and counseling, and administration -- from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M.
ORU is looking for a new president after the Nov. 23 resignation of former President Richard Roberts amid intense scrutiny into his leadership and spending.
The issue came to light Oct. 2, when three former ORU professors sued the school, Roberts, three administrators and others, claiming that they wrongfully lost their jobs.
The first court hearing in the lawsuit is scheduled for Friday, after court-ordered mediation Thursday.
Roberts has denied wrongdoing and has said he paid for personal expenses that initially were billed to the university.
He said last week on the "The 700
Club" television show with evangelist Pat Robertson that resigning as ORU's president was "the hardest thing I've ever done in my life."
He said God told him to resign immediately without regard for his reputation.
Roberts continues Christian evangelical work as the CEO of Oral Roberts Ministries.
ORU's interim president is one of its regents, Billy Joe Daugherty.
Payas' committee will research presidential search consultants, the news release said.
When the committee finishes its work, a presidential search committee will be formed to identify appli cants, conduct interviews and make recommendations to the board of regents.
ORU spokesman Jeremy Burton said he does not know how Payas' committee will be formed or who will be on it, whether Payas' committee will choose a consultant, when the committee will start meeting, or whether the committee has a time line for accomplishing its tasks.
Payas is chairwoman of the board of regents' academic affairs committee.
She was quoted in the news release as saying, "With a great process in place and much prayer, the next president will be selected who can move ORU into a bright, promising future."

How is possible criminal wrong-doing (by RR, LR, others) examined when there is a mandate by the court for mediation? Just curious

there is no proof of Richard Roberts doing anything wrong - remember he has not stated he did anything wrong either, and also he quite graciouly appeared on the 700 club and forgave his persecutors.
.
you should really learn from Richard Roberts, and Paula White; they are not judging and condemning like so many on these posts.

Pauline---The mere fact he labeled them as "persecutors' was a judgement. Look at the LK and 700 Club interviews again. They were both full of condemnation and judgement...most of it very subtle and covert---they are smooth as silk.

ms- WOE! WOE WOE! God does allow us to think for ourselves and not be like sheep following some shepherd off the cliff to our death. Just because someone says, "Hey, I'm annointed" does not mean they have a pass on their behavior. I am sure that Hilter and Osama had(have) plenty of followers who attest to their 'annointedness" as leaders---with evey innocent life they took.

richard went on the 700 club without a doubt in his mind that he was "right" and he was being persecuted. i don't even think he knows right from wrong. or didn't either - "touch not my anointed" is intimidating and comes from the pulpit to protect and control the sheep. unfortunately, i have heard it many times. it has taken a lot to understand what christianity really is and it is NOT the lavish lifestyles of the rich and famous ministries. please, don't ever associate them with God - Jesus didn't live that way nor lead HIS followers that way. maybe good has come out of oru - i don't judge that - if i look at its leaders up until now, my comment would be "woe to you hyprocrites"

You know what I am so fed up with this "don't judge" mentality. Everytime a Christian says something is sin, here they come with "don't judge". That is just a trap of Satan to stop Christians from calling sin, sin. The bible says "Even a child is known by his actions". It's not rocket science to look at LR and RR on their program and see that they most certainly do not live a modest livestyle. And where do they get the money? From the donors. Give me a break. Everytime someone says, "oooohhh you're judging them" they are also judging. Jesus didn't let the money-cangers get by with sin. The bible doesn't say they said anything. It says He saw what they were doing and threw them out of the temple.

All you that post "woes" "judge not" ect...are immature grownups and I even question if you truly know the Lord Jesus Christ. I strongly suggest you go back and reread your Bibles. You an instrument of satan and do not even know you are being played.
________________
Finally you are so spiritually minded you are no earthly good. You are one of the very reason people with any intelligence make fun of Christianity and reject Christ. According to your beliefs you will be judged by Christ for you follies.

I strongly suggest you get further education on basic comprehension skills.

Gail I am ashamed of you telling folks they are no worldly good. You do not like it when folks say not to judge. What are you doing? I have always enjoyed your comments and am sorry to see this of you. It is more than likely you will tell me off but I had to speak.

To: poppy, Thank you and no I will not tell you off. I just want people to please stop and think. It is easy to preach to the choir, but not so easy to the unsaved. We must get our head out of the sand and out of the church. We must be able to at least have conversations with the lost or there is not hope.

HELLO.....#5 You say Richard has done no wrong....well, it hasn't been proven as yet in a court of law...but the fact that he is telling folks to send in $100.00 because that is what God told him to do, I believe is wrong and manipulative. I think God would move on people to send $100.00 without Richard having to ask for it. It's the same old story. Did you read George Muller's testimony when he cared for many poor orphans? He prayed and God sent what he needed through a person the Lord led to give. Also, St. Paul asked believers to give to the needy...not to the wealthy. I feel as through the "American? church is off base in the way they raise money. Every believer is called to reach out to the lost with the Word of God and spread the Gospel of the Good News of Salvation. We do not ask people to give us money after we
have witnessed to them about the Lord. There is more to say....but I think you get my point.

#11: You make my point. You tell Gail she is judging as soon as the starts naming sin as sin. As soon as she starts telling the truth, that being that Satan is using the "judging" card to control people, you come back with "you are judging". To Gail and all others, do not be intimidated by this effort of Satan to silence you. If you are not speaking according to God's word, HE will convict you. He will not entrust the "whining" and "lack of bible knowledge" people to give you a message!

#5 Pauline: What would you suggest that we learn from RR and Paula White? They are both divorced and I thought the bible said that a pastor must be the husband of only 1 wife (or in Paula's case husband). Uh, they both live lavish lifestyles (fact - pictures are everywhere) on the sacrificial giving of people who truly love God and are giving money to help people in need. Uh, they both feel they have done nothing biblically wrong. Let's see.... Man look what I almost missed. I could be an adulterer, a liar and a thief. Hummmm.... I think I'll pass on that...... How ridiculous you sound....... Whoops, sorry. I fear I am judging!!!!

When I was in multi level marketing --ashamed now--we could pull stunts like getting people to give us $100.00 offerings too in the shape of a basket of products.
Of course it was so we could do our monthly quota or production. I keep telling people its not that hard to do an emotional appeal --come on people order some more product this month or we won't be a unit any longer--follow by playing emotional music
take your candle into the darkness--then you pass our candles -light them and stand in the dark singing while swaying looking at the light from the flames.
Do you think you invented the emotional appeal Lindsay--not hardly--Mary Kay was there long before you.
The shame you feel when the true light goes on is maximum painful--when will they
ever learn--you say its for ministry purposes--right and my fur coat was to help
inspire the women in my unit go onto to bigger and better things.
When will you learn this scam has consequences --sheep are only dumb for so long
than the True Shepherd steps onto the scene. Beware from one ex-scammer
its absolutely no different what you are doing there

#17: There is a great difference is you and LR. You have taken responsibility for your actions. You have set a course that is different from your past course (i.e. EX scammer.) You have remorse. LR has shown none of this (at least publicly) as you have. May God bless you. LR may God have mercy on your soul.

I have decided to wait until after both the lawsuit is over and Mark Green has given the full $70 million grant (given upon signs of true financial accountability) before giving to ORU again.
The students are worth it, not some fancy preacher.
It would be really helpful for ORU to have the EFCA seal on it.
Currently the following regents have totally resigned from ORU:
Benny Hinn
Creflo Dollar
Jesse Duplantis
I.V. Hilliard
