OSU charmer Ensley is edged out of the final 24
Two Oklahoma residents — Alaina Whitaker and David Cook — will be among the final 24 “American Idol” contestants.
Whitaker, a student at Tulsa’s Metro Christian Academy, and Cook, a Tulsa music scene regular who has played in bands such as the Midwest Kings, were chosen to move on to the final part of the hit show’s competition — live performances where the winners are chosen by fans.
The top 24 contestants were revealed on Wednesday night’s episode after “Hollywood Week” in which a field of 164 contestants was narrowed to 50, then 24.
Several Oklahomans, including Colton Swon of Muskogee, Krista Branch of Bixby, Michael Preston of Oklahoma City and Kyle Ensley of Valliant, had gone to Hollywood but were eliminated.
Ensley, an Oklahoma State University junior who charmed the judges and said he hopes to one day be governor of Oklahoma, nearly made the final cut but was edged out by another singer.
Judge Simon Cowell strongly disagreed with the decision and voiced his displeasure with the other judges’ decision on Wednesday’s episode:
“I think you have something which people would have enjoyed, and I’m really disappointed,” Cowell told Ensley. Afterward, Ensley said, “It’s just been a wonderful experience that I’ll never forget.”
Cook has an independent solo album, “Analog Heart,” and auditioned in Omaha, Neb. Whitaker, who auditioned in Dallas, won the local talent competition “My Big Break” last year with her sister, Brittney Whitaker, a student at Oklahoma State University.

Why give credit to the Cook kid for being a Tulsan, he told Idol he was from Missouri. Let's give him what he wants

to #1: go to the idol website. he lists his hometown as tulsa. idol either made a mistake the other night, or over the summer he said he was from tulsa, moved to missouri during the fall and has since moved back.

David Cook is originally from Blue Springs, Mo where he grew up and went to high school. He moved to Tulsa several years ago to play music and worked as a bartender.

OMG it does # 4. The only thing worth watching are the auditions but even those are becoming lame. Pretty sure a lot of them are paid to act like fools. Its all about the ratings!

David Cook was raised and attended college in Missouri. That is were his roots are. After college, he moved to Tulsa to pursue his music about two years ago. Go David, we are cheering for you.

I guess AI does kinda suck, just ask Carrie Underwood. She actually claims to be from Oklahoma and is worth probably millions by now and has garnered several awards. That's how she got her start, but it sucks to be her, I'm sure.

If you won't let us comment on the exploding crime around us then, it will just go away..Ex. The hotel robbery, and the two shooting's. Sinse we can't comment about what a pittifull job the police are doing then no one will know what a pittifull job they are doing.
And some how this is news................

David Cook lists his hometown as Tulsa, OK. In his first audition, Ryan Seacrest said "David Cook from Tulsa, Oklahoma". Then, during Hollywood Week, they said Blue Springs, MO. That is where he is from originally, but he apparently considers Tulsa home.
Does it really matter what they list...he lives in Tulsa, so he's a Tulsa boy, and we should root for him. Blue Springs is a nice little town by the way. I've spent loads of time there, tearing up and down Highway 7.

It should be called "Karaoke Idol", because that's what it is. Not a single one of these clowns peforms a song that THEY wrote or plays an instrument.

People wonder why our country is facing the problems that effect us all. We are in the middle of a war and our government is about to start another, but people are more concerned about where an American Idol contestant is originaly from than where our President is leading us.
Its time we voted for things that actully mattered. I have an idea. Let's get Simon Cowel to officiate the next Presidential debate and see how many of us tune in, then maybe the American public will pull our collective heads out of the sand.

No, let's just be MySpace friends. Or, better yet, let's be friends on World of Warcraft. I'm on there more than I watch TV.
