Kern's son denies reports he is gay
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Advocates of gay and lesbian rights came to the Capitol in force on Tuesday hoping to meet with Rep. Sally Kern. But they said the lawmaker who said homosexuality was worse than "terrorists and Islam" was nowhere to found.
About 300 people gathered to protest Kern's recent comments, which ended up on YouTube and drew extensive national attention.
Robin Meyers, senior minister at Mayflower Congregational
Church, said Kern's homophobic comments are a "national embarrassment for Oklahoma."
"It is frightening to me that Sally Kern is an elected official doing the people's business," he said.
James C. Shields, who said he lives in Kern's northwest Oklahoma City legislative district, said he went by her office to invite the lawmaker to the rally.
Kern's assistant said the lawmaker had "left for the day because she did not have any committee meetings."
Kern said later that she would be willing to meet next week with two or three people representing the gay and lesbian community.
"I'd have no problem meeting with them next week when I have my lawyer," she said. Kern said she is working with a lawyer from the Thomas More Law Center based in Ann Arbor, Mich. The law center described as a conservative Christian center has offices throughout the country.

Bob - why don't you get over your hatred and bigotry towards people different from yourself?
I bet you're some really ugly, old man.

The Bible is a STORY....Not the absolute truth. Why people take a book written, at time when 90% of the world thought the Earth was FLAT, literal I will never understand. It is a great story on how to live a good life, but to take everything literal, well that is plain ignorance...Overzealous Christians spew more hate in this world, yet proclaim themselves to righteous and worthy!! Get off your pedistal and let people live their life the way THEY see fit....Ignorance is Bliss I guess.
...........................................
The Bible is NOT a STORY! It is the absolute TRUTH to Bible Believing Christians! You will never change that. So get use to the fact that Christians believe every word written in their BOOK.

Sally Kern has a right to stand and proclaim her beliefs, just as any other American does. If she has upset the gay community, then they'll just have to get over it.
Good for you Sally! It's about time! Most of us are proud of you. God Speed and God Bless!
AMEN! This story sounds like the story in the Bible when the homosexuals
went to Lot's house to meet with the Angels who were visiting with Lot.

God, why does the Tulsa World even allow comments on its stories? The fountain of moronity that spews forth from the denizens of our fine state astounds me time and time again.
Item 1) Just like the KKK or the Flat Earth Society, Sally Kern had a right to say what she said.
Item 2) GLBT groups have a right to be angry about it and to say so.
Item 3) What the heck does the issue of who's on welfare or not have to do with anything?
Item 4) In my humble opinion, to which I also have a right, racism, sexism, and homophobia are symptoms of a diseased mind, and should be treated as such.

You all are idiots. I agree that Ms. Kern has a right to her opinion - no matter how stupid she sounds. I just feel sad for her son who is gay.
I also hate the arguments brought up by you so-called Christians...."how come it's okay for Gays to say what they want but someone like Kern can't..blah blah blah..." - probably because the majority/white/Christian people have been having a say about how they feel the world needs to be run for centuries.
Quit acting like you are entitled to the world and that you are the only ones who receive God's love...

It must have been a BIG decision for you huh? ..and for you stupid women on here who just Sally...you all should really/seriously educate yyourselves - about WOMEN'S History....1906 to 1920,Women fought for, protested, were arrested/force fed....to OBTAIN thier RIGHT to VOTE, and have a SAY in Gov't. Back then..Men and so-called Religious churches/peoples FOUGHT to prevent You ladies from having YOUR SAY,you were suppoed to sit down, shut up..and be happy with what Men gave you. They controlled your money, your children, and your lives. ...and WHAT was thier argument against you...."If Women Obtain the RIGHT to Vote, then the Very Fabric of American Society would crumble" sound familiar yaw? Aside from the actual subject of it a politician acutally stood up for something. It's nice to see some backbone in government.
Like I said before, "tolerance" is only afforded to those who agree. If you dare disagree, as did Sally Kern, the double-standard rears its ugly head!

Men with Men
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
OLD TESTAMENT…KEEPING IN MIND THE BIBLE CLEARLY SAYS…I AM THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER…I CHANGE NOT…
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination…………………….
Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them………………..

In the last days Christians will be persecuted and even the elect will be deceived. If the bible was "just a story" then the prophecies would not be coming about as they are today. Read the bible and read the news and you will see the changing of the seasons.

I love all the loving Bible quotes. To say that book has been mistranslated and misused over the last 200 years is an understatement.
And the reason the GLBT community is all "up in arms" is that we will not silently sit by and wait for another lynching. (Matthew Sheppard), which is what that sort of hate speach leads to.
Yes the woman is entitled to her opinion, but she was in the workplace and there is no room for any sort of hate speach in any workplace. The government should have to live up to the same harrassment standards as every other work place.

Yes, I too believe that gay and lesbians have an agenda and are trying to take over our land. Did you know that Tulsa now has gay gangs??? Channel six reported that last night there where three drive-by spankings in the Blue Dome District alone, and in East Tulsa they where breaking into people’s houses redecorating. It’s just down right scary anymore.

Wow !
What a bunch of ignorant comments from people in Oklahoma.
This state must be a fool's paradise. At least there is a place in this country where a family can go and stick there heads in the sand and live a tiny little make believe life. Maybe that could be the new state motto - "Oklahoma ! "A fool's paradise.

You don't need to. I do not need your salvation or your pity. In fact, I have a brain that I use, instead of following the blind masses and buying into Falacy. Humans existed long before Christianity did.....The Bible is a Human Creation. But, keep your head buried in the sand a little longer. Do not be surprised if those pearly gates you long for, aren't there to recieve you.....

Most of what Mrs. Sally Kern said in that meeting which she thought was only attended by Republicans came from the rumor monger, Paul Cameron, who was kicked out of the American Psychological Association quite a few years ago.
--
There is one thing in regard to a person using freedom of speech based on what the person studied on his/her own and checked out all of the facts; but, it is another thing to merely parrot what was said by a man who has an anti-gay agenda.
