English language bill clears House committee
By Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A bill to make English the official language of Oklahoma has won preliminary approval in a House committee.
The General Government and Transportation Committee voted 11-5 Wednesday to send the bill to the full House floor for debate and a vote.
Rep. Randy Terrill of Moore says the measure is needed to stop the practice of publishing state documents in multiple languages. He points to the case of two Iranian nationals who live in Bartlesville and are demanding the Oklahoma driver licenses tests be given in their native Farsi language.
Opponents argue the measure may have unintended consequences and could impact American Indian tribal language programs.
Terrill says it includes exceptions for tribal languages and wouldn't prevent the state from promoting itself in languages other than English for purposes of commerce and tourism.

This is moronic. Get real people we are country of immigrants. We were extremely close speaking German in this country in 1776. Basically, if I was accused of a crime in another country I would want access to English translations. I am sure Randy would too.
Terrill, morons like you are the reason Oklahoma's economy is going to lag behind all the surrounding states in our region. If it weren't for the oil companies, you could stick a fork in Oklahoma's economy. Our tax revenues are down and that is with S9.00mcf/nat gas and 100/barrel oil and our rig count is up in this state.

Sean - So you don't have a problem in paying for Farsi executed driving exams? Unbelievable! What's next? Multi-lingual traffic signs? I guess you could alway petition the OTC to include a box to check off to fund non-English speakers from your tax refund but don't expect everyone else to chip in.
Thanks, Randy Terrill.

Randy Terrill doesn't like brown-skinned people. It appears.
Everyone speaks English anyway, or is trying to learn.
Is there nothing more important going on in this state... like monster potholes, or not enough money for health care? Or do we need to spend a lot of grandstanding so politicians can show the world that Oklahoma is a great place to live if you are a white English speaker, but no so great if you are anyone else?

No wonder America can't compete in the global market.
Your inbred lawmakers concern themselves with english-only bills,
red-cocked woodpeckers and rest stops for dogs while your flimsy
okiesawyer economy goes swirling down the toilet. Randy Terrill is
a fat racist scumbag and so are the hillbillies who sing his praises.

#15- (mr/ms worthless, etc) You are a living lab-rat which should test the fairness of the TW censorship policies.
I wonder if your comments (anti-white) will suffer the same fate as other idiots racists?

Perhaps we should make Spanish our official state language. After all, it was spoken here way before English was.
In fact, we should probably make whatever language was spoken by the people at Spiro hundreds of years ago our official state language.

The people indigenous to this land never wanted it to resemble Europe either. Unfortunately, the Europeans took it away from them and now they want to make everyone speak English.

well this is the reason I moved out of Mexifornia, I was sick and tired of the anti Americans that run the state and I am now proud to be in Oklahoma, I wish all of the states had the nnuuuttts that we have in Oklahoma.
Sorry you liberal, open border and anti Americans, you are losing the battles. More and more states are passing the laws that Americans want and demand we have. enough is enough.

#26-(bubba) Yet another example of the TW's selective censorship policy. Anything is ok as long as it limited to anti-white.
