The university's board names a nine-member search committee and hires a consultant.

Oral Roberts University's board of trustees announced Wednesday that it expects to have a new president in place by or before summer 2009.

The trustees also named a nine-member presidential search committee and hired a search consultant.

The full board met for the second time since replacing ORU's board of regents in January.

The meeting -- private because ORU is a private university and not subject to the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act -- is scheduled to conclude Thursday. ORU did not make the meeting agenda public.

Search committee members include five trustees -- Don Argue of Washington, Jay Betz of Tulsa, board Chairman Mart Green of Yukon, Charles McKinney of Florida and Dr. Glenda Payas of Tulsa -- plus Faculty Assembly President Walter MacMillan, Alumni Association board Chairman Rhae Buckley, Student Association President Joseph Musa and Sheree King, director of student success and retention, a news release states.

Green, whose family donated $70 million to ORU, is leading the committee, college spokesman Jeremy Burton said.

Also Wednesday, the board named Bruce Dingman, president

of the Dingman Co. Inc. in California, as search consultant, the release said.

Dingman said he has worked as a consultant to six presidential searches for colleges, universities and seminaries, including John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark., over the last seven years. All of the presidents he helped find are still in their positions, except one who died, he said.

Dingman also works on executive searches for businesses and Christian organizations, he said.

In January, BusinessWeek listed him among "The 50 Most Influential Headhunters."

Dingman said he shares ORU's theology and brings interviewing and reference-checking skills and contacts to the presidential search.

He also can help the committee members come to an agreement about what they are looking for in a president, and he can be an outside voice when the committee is trying to decide which candidate it likes best, he said.

ORU's next president will need to have experience in academic administration, fit the university's Christian theology and fit into the locale, Dingman said.

ORU's board of trustees on Wednesday accepted a committee's reports on the university's needs and the needed qualifications and characteristics of the next president.

The reports were not made public.

ORU leaders were expected to give interviews at the conclusion of the board of trustees meeting Thursday.

*To above posters* Looks like the search for bitter and irrelevant forum trolls has ended.

It sounds like this search is being handled correctly. I have no doubt that ORU will get a REAL executive this time.

Fifty Dollar Fine attended ORU several years ago. She lives in California now. For some odd reason, she hates the fact that she even went to ORU and she does make fun of most Christians who post comments to Tulsa World Articles, especially those which are related to the activity of ORU. It is ironic that she is the daughter of a pastor.

Since Mart Green and Don Argue are both members of Assemblies of God congregations, maybe they will find a new president who does not promote the Word of Faith doctrine which Richard and Lindsay Roberts preached. Richard Roberts' doctrine is not exactly like that of his father, Granville Oral Roberts.
--
I think that for ORU to return to its original mission as stated by Oral Roberts himself, it would be best if the new president were a member of an Assembly of God, too. But, he would not have to be ordained by the the AG.

Certainly ORU needs a stute executive, with integrity, common sense and a reasonable set of Christian values. Of course this person needs to be honest beyond reproach. All these charecteristics were lacking in the previous administration.

Hopefully the short comings of the previous administration can be avoided. History does not have to repeat itself.

No, there is nothing ironic about the daughter of TWO pastors choosing their own way. I don't expect you to understand, since you're still in it.

Any one have a guess of who might be selected? I think we will all be in for a surprise when that person is named. Besides all of the qualities listed in the article he is going to have to be someone who can raise the money to run ORU in the black and build an endownment also - lots of people out there to choose from

I hope it's someone with legitimate PhD in Higher Education Administration or Business Management, and someone honest enough to demand to know where all the money went. I'd also get rid of that corrupt Board of Trustees, who stood by and watch the train wreck happen. As long as you keep appointing these self-annointed Elmer Gantry wannabes, ORU stands a good chance of being bled dry again.

This past Wednesday was the last day for the defendants to produce discovery items (pilot's logs and security / gate logs). They are now in the judge's possession. What names do you think are in the logs? Who do you think the interesting people are with regard to entering the compound, the young boys, and other alleged activities? The time has elapsed for these documents to be presented, so what are the names to look for in the documents?
