David Boren backs Obama candidacy
By JIM MYERS World Washington Bureau
Published:

Last Modified: 4/19/2008 2:03 AM
The former senator joins Sam Nunn on Obama's advisory team.
WASHINGTON -- University of Oklahoma President David Boren on Friday endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president, citing the Illinois senator's "good judgment" in warning against the Iraq war five years ago.
Boren's endorsement was part of a joint announcement with another former Democratic senator, Sam Nunn of Georgia.
Both men will serve as advisers to Obama's campaign on national security and foreign policy.
When in the Senate, Boren served as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Nunn led the Senate Armed Services Committee.
"I am joining Sen. Barack Obama's advisory team on foreign policy and national security because I believe it is my duty as a citizen to do all I can to help our country at this critical moment," Boren said.
"Our strength is declining. Eighty-one percent of Americans believe we are headed in the wrong direction. We must act quickly to meet and overcome the challenges we face."
Obama said he was honored to have the support and counsel of two of the nation's leading voices on national security.
"David Boren is one of our nation's foremost experts on intelligence, and he has been a powerful and passionate advocate for bipartisanship in Washington," Obama said.
In a separate statement to Oklahomans, Boren said he was exercising his rights and duties to his country as a private citizen.
"I am not acting on behalf of the University of Oklahoma," he said. "This will in no way impact my work at the university."
Earlier this year, Boren and Nunn co-hosted a meeting at OU with other prominent Americans to focus the 2008 campaign on restoring the nation's standing in the world and ending partisan bickering.
Boren's announcement automatically drew attention to his son, U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, D-Okla., who actually is a so-called superdelegate to their party's national convention this summer.
"My father exercises his own independent judgment on these matters, and this in no way means that I will endorse Obama," the congressman said.
"I remain uncommitted to either candidate."
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., won Oklahoma's presidential primary this year.

Boren is a joke

Boren still has fantasies of being President of the USA. His father, a U.S. Congressman in the 40s, raised him to believe he would grow up to be President. Unfortunately for Boren, in 1993 the gay press began to out him and accuse him of sexual harassment, so he had to duck and run (Texas Triangle, July 14, 1993). The next year he manipulated the OU regents into naming him boss of that school. He’s been using the OU campus all along to further his dream. If he can’t be President of the USA he’ll settle for a cabinet office, ambassadorship, or whatever he can get. What the bum deserves is to be fired from OU and put out to pasture.

What does this have to do with his endorsing Obama, rather than Hillary? Does he know something that you don't?

Of course , Hillary thinks Boren an old ,out dated sodomite with no national power and many skeletons. David Boren is backing OSAMA so,
hopefull is son DAN BOREN can get some little appointment
of favor. This is only plans laid by an over rated shoe shine boy
and old pervert. McCain will be Pres. So it really doesnt matter.

#2, you are absolutey right. Let's look at Boren's record. In January 2008 the fool was hosting his silly "bipartisan forum" and wasting OU resources to promote a Bloomberg independent candidacy. Boren was hoping that he would be Bloomberg's running mate. For 2004 Boren was promoting conservative Joe Lieberman, but now his game is liberal Obama. After Lieberman dropped out he used $100,000 in public funds to host Giuliani at OU. At the time, the rumor was circulating that Bush was going to dump Cheney and pick up Giuliani. Boren was hoping for a Cabinet appointment. For 2000, there was a Reform Party Committee to Draft Boren. Boren was quietly cooperating with them. Boren flip-flops back and forth. The fact is that he is loyal to no one except himself. This guy is a first-class jerk and deserves to be FIRED from OU immediately.

Boren is a real flake. He shows no consistency and embraces whatever is trendy at the time. The jerk can raise money for OU..but I view his political pronouncements as shallow at best. Now he has endorsed BO as the flavor of the month.Obama is a radical leftist with very questionable views and associations.Porky Boren is probably angling for a job in the BO administration..if there should ever be such a disaster.

And what about McCain? Where are his endorsements? He has a lock on the Republican nonimation, but I don't see a lot of Republicans jumping on the train...do you know why? The Republicans have their own troubles, and don't need to be too closely associated with Mcsame. Why is the Tulsa World, like the other mainstream media, letting John McSame off the hook? Top Gun Naval Academy graduate, or graduate near the bottom of his class? War hero, or bad pilot? Tortured by the North Vietnamese, or collaborated with them? Pulled off the admiral's promotion list for fooling around, or PTSD? Dumped his first wife to marry an heiress 17 years his junior, or just hopelessly in love? Helped her beat a drug rap, or compassionate conservative? In up to his eyeballs in the S& L scandal, or just got in with a bad crowd? First denounced Jerry Falwell, then kissed his behind for an endorsement? Stood up to Bush against torture, then meekly allowed him to pass a "signing document" which allows him to ignore the declaration, and do whatever he wants, to whomever he wants? Vigorous young man, or doddering 71-year-old, who will more than likely repeat Reagan's last few years in office, senile, incontinent, and asleep. John McSame has plenty of baggage, and I for one, can't wait to get into the discussion about how these things are going to be spun away. Some candidate.

Very smart Helen, more & more people are beginning to see the true nature of Obama.
He speaks very well and says absolutely nothing, has no record, no experience! He is arrogant to think he should be President of our Great Nation!

All three presidential runners were ask what they would do to help the people with housing problems. Barry Obama said he would use 20 billion to help the people. Silly Hilly said that she would use 30 billion to bail the people out. Mc Cain said that the federal government should not get involved to bail people out of there housing problems. When most of them couldn't afford the house anyway. Being a X-Okie and living in Illinois believe me you don't want to vote for Barry Obama. He talks about change but has he really explained how he's going to do it. Hilly said she would make sure that America would stop depending on goods from China. Thank her husband for that little diddy.

The people voting in 2008 should not blindly believe every thing your candidate says. We should always question what they say, many candidates say just what the people what to hear. There is a lot at stake, be a responsible voter.

Boren should be fired. Most Indian students are leaving OU because of the ever raising fees. The last two semesters have been a total of $7,000 of fees ONLY, the there is tutition, books, housing, etc. Also, you should see what he has OK'e on campus - destruction of many trees - replaced by saplings, if at all. The University is going down hill.

I use to admire David Boren when he was our govenor. No more. He cited Obama had "good judgement"...oh yes, good judgement as Obama sat in a church, that preached hatred toward America, for 20 years - but yet if we are to belive Obama he heard nothing. Oh he (Obama) will have some kind of foreign policy skills. If Obama has heard nothing in church for 20 years what is going to hear when he meets Heads of other Countires?
And what Obama's so called "good judgement" in friends or acquaintenances? Ayers to name one. How can the media and some Americans be so blinded to the fact that Obama does NOT have good judgement.
As an American and as an Oklahoman I think David Boren should defintely revisit his own "good judgement" about endorsing Obama.

I am totally upset about this endorsement. Clinton carried Oklahoma 55% to 31%. She crushed him. At least most of the people of Oklahoma have good judgement. I don't believe that President Boren showed good judgement on this.

And where was John McSame's judgement during the S&L scandal? I suppose you people have forgotten that one, just like he hopes you have. John McSame is a doddering, cancerous old man who won't live through his first term, and you all know it. We don't let 71-year old men do anything in this country, except play with their grandchildren, and drive their Crown Vics, and even then, we watch them closely. McSame is some candidate...he is a media invented geezer, and I look forward to the coming smackdown from Obama. Obviously, Boren is smarter than all of you.

I am very surprised at your judgement to come out for Obama when he said in his book, Quote "I will stand with the Muslims
should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
Quote, From Dreams of My Fathfer, "I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers's race." If your considering any cabinet position in case Obams does win. YOU HAD BETTER START GETTING SOME OF THAT OKLAHOMS PECAN STAIN ON YOUR FACE.
