Oklahoma defensive back Reggie Smith is a San Francisco 49er.

Smith, who left OU after his junior season following an All-American high school career at Edmond Santa Fe, was picked with the 12th pick of the third round of the NFL Draft on Sunday.

Smith was the third Sooner picked. Linebacker Curtis Lofton (Atlanta) and wide receiver Malcolm Kelly (Washington) were drafted in the second round on Saturday. Former OU running back Allen Patrick was picked in the seventh round (240th overall) by Baltimore.

Tulsa linebacker Chris Chamberlain was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round, the 228th pick overall.

A pair of Kansas Jayhawks who played high school football in Oklahoma also joined the NFL on Sunday. Tight end Derek Fine, who played at Sallisaw, was picked by Buffalo with the 33rd pick of the fourth round (132nd overall). Wide receiver Marcus Henry, who played at Lawton, was taken by the New York Jets with the fifth pick of the sixth round (171st overall).

Two former Sooners were also drafted Sunday. Offensive tackle Brandon Keith, a McAlester product who left the OU team prior to the 2005 season and landed at Northern Iowa, went to Arizona in the seventh round with the 225th pick overall.

Running back Tashard Choice, who left OU after the 2005 season to transfer closer to home to Georgia Tech, went 23rd in the fourth round to Dallas. There Choice will compete with Tulsan Felix Jones, who was picked 22nd in the first round by the Cowboys on Saturday.
