Lindsay Roberts kept in ORU lawsuit
Roberts

Read the latest about the ORU lawsuit at
Lindsay Roberts, the wife of former Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts, remains a defendant in a lawsuit filed last fall by former ORU professors.
Attorneys for Lindsay Roberts had sought to have her removed from the suit, but Tulsa County District Judge Rebecca Brett Nightingale denied that motion Monday.
Also on Monday, lawyers in the case agreed to have a pretrial conference Jan. 26. They said a trial date would be set then.
Paul Boudreaux, an attorney for the plaintiffs, said he expected depositions to be taken from 30 people as lawyers flesh out information and testimonies.
Tim and Paulita Brooker, who are former professors at the university, are suing Richard and Lindsay Roberts and others for allegedly causing them to lose their jobs and more.
They allege they lost their jobs because Tim Brooker, along with a former plaintiff, John Swails, turned over to ORU administrators a report of alleged wrongdoing by the Roberts family.
The report allegedly was compiled years ago by Lindsay Roberts' sister, Stephanie Cantees.
Swails settled his part of the lawsuit in January.
Richard Roberts said last fall that the report consisted of false rumors. It contained allegations that Lindsay Roberts spent a great deal
of time, including in the middle of the night, with a boy and that the Roberts family used ORU and Oral Roberts Ministries money to pay for lavish living. Richard and Lindsay Roberts denied any wrongdoing.
Richard Roberts resigned as ORU's president in November after almost three months of scrutiny spawned by the lawsuit.
Nightingale asked Diane Hinkle, an attorney for the Brookers, to point out on Monday the "factual allegations" in the lawsuit that could support claims that Lindsay Roberts played a part in allegedly causing the couple emotional distress, conspiring against the Brookers and interfering with their employment contracts.
Hinkle read from the lawsuit, saying that Cantees, on behalf of Lindsay Roberts and others, pledged to destroy Paulita Brooker's career if all copies of Cantees' report were not returned to her.
Nightingale decided that the factual allegation could potentially support the legal claims against Lindsay Roberts.
Robert P. Fitz-Patrick, an attorney for the Robertses, had argued that the lawsuit did not contain any allegations that Lindsay Roberts acted illegally and that instead, her name was tacked onto the legal allegations without any supporting facts.
Hinkle countered, "We do allege Lindsay Roberts was involved in conspiring to cover up this (Cantees) report and get rid of these professors to protect herself and others, so we have alleged wrongdoing here."

Did the author of this article mean June 26 instead of January 26. Are they really going to let this thing drag on that long. Also they are not stupid. They really hate this family and want to destroy them. They are getting what they want. They are afraid of going anywhere/being seen anywhere because of all of this mess. I am surely glad that none of these people are in Congress because if they were every person in congress would be sued/they would have lawsuits against everyone judges/congressmen/congresswomen/president etc. This will never end.

If you are going to deviate from the topic to make political a jab at Senator Obama, then lets not forget Cindy McShame. She lets McSame put everything in her name then refuses to release any information. When Teresa Heinz Kerry did this in 2004 she got criticized till she released her information. Seems like we have a double standard in this country. Only matters if your black or a Democratic. Lindsey Roberts and Cindy McCain are made from the same cloth help hide your husbands misdeeds and reap in the cash.

Diagree on this point...
Cindy MCCain's Grandfathers EARNED their $$ via hard work and good business savvy.
Lindsey Roberts Husband and Father-in-law SCAMMED $$ from the POOR & NAIVE. BIG DIFFERNCE!!!

Ha ha Lindsey Roberts still in the lawsuit. Revenge is sweet. I was not born in Tulsa, but I have lived here off and on since 1975 and I always felt the Roberts family were in the same league as Jim & Tammy Faye Baker and others of those type of religious nuts. Most people I have ran into all these years in Tulsa did not think highly of the Roberts family, so the majority of the monies they received must have came from the little old blue hair ladies from other towns in Oklahoma and out of state.
I agree, surely they meant June 26, but I've worked in law firms, and things can move slowly. More than likely the defense side is trying to drag things out as long as possible hoping the plaintiffs will drop the case. The plaintiffs are not only doing this for the shaft they received from the Roberts but also all the other people present and past that were treated badly by the Roberts. If I were the plaintiffs, hell would freeze over before I dropped or settled the lawsuit.
Side note: When ORU had a law school, just about every law firm I worked for would not hire law school graduates from ORU.

They did not mean June 26. It will be in January. These state court actions can take years.

YOU PEOPLE THAT SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT THE ROBERTS PROBABLY HAVE NEVER GIVEN A DIME OF YOUR MONEY TO THEM, SO WHY SHOULD THIS CONCERN YOU SO. WE GIVE MONEY BECAUSE WE WANT TO HELP PEOPLE AND BE A BLESSING. I KNOW THAT IS A STRANGE CONCEPT FOR SOME PEOPLE. THIS WHOLE THING WILL WORK OUT FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. THINGS WILL BE BETTER THAN THEY EVER HAVE. THAT DOES NOT MEAN DOWN WITH THE ROBERTS' EITHER. GOD IS A GOD OF 2ND CHANCES. SOMEONE ON THIS BLOG MAY NEED A SECOND CHANCE SOMEDAY.

I just wanted to put forth this thought....what a wonderful view we are giving of those that do not live in Tulsa of Tulsa and the arguements that are ongoing ....the ORU fiasco is just that ..a fiasco but still worth the view as it tells us what NOT to do to others.

Yes LR and RR are still living in Tulsa, I don't know the exact address but I do know that they have a PO box. Also OREA (ORM) is still in Tulsa also. I hope that answers your question.

Joe-Allen Doty Thank you for the info, but he was not married to Patti at the time. I asked his brother in law about it and he said that Patti was around gone and out of the picture when he met Lindsay. Also his brother in law said that everyone was thankful that Pattie was out of RR's life for good.

#1. The Bible says that a Preacher must be the husband of only ONE wife. So RR has had two wives...
#2. I didn't realize that LR was married before also. So both have committed adultery.
#3. I know RR had a child with his first wife. Does LR have any other children except the ones that she and RR talk about?
#4. I heard RR on TV last night and he was talking about the God of 2nd chances and how he had been given a second chance!!! He also was saying that he was going to heaven to meet people already there and he mentioned a brother, a
sister, a son, but no mention was made of his mother.
