A bus driver for Hulbert Public Schools was been accused of raping a 15-year-old student.

Rowdy Androy Willis, 25, was arrested Tuesday by Cherokee County deputies on a complaint of second-degree rape, said Investigator Becky Thompson.

The girl told her parents that she and Willis had consensual sex at his home this past April, Thompson said.

Under state law, sexual intercourse between an employee of a school and a student who is younger than 20 — even if the acts are consensual — is considered rape.

Willis worked for an independent contractor hired by the school.

The girl’s parents reported the alleged crime to police, Thompson said.

Her parents took the girl to live with an aunt in northeast Kansas, but she has since run away, Thompson said.

Willis was being held Friday at the Cherokee County Jail with bond set at $75,000.
