Local celebs will go to bat for homeless this week

Local celebrities will step up to the plate Thursday for a charity softball game benefiting the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.
The second annual Home Run for the Homeless will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Drillers Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m., and tickets are $5, with children 12 and younger admitted free.
More than 40 celebrities from media, sports and corporate communities are expected to participate.
From the media community, Tulsa World sports editor Mike Strain and staff writer P.J. Lassek will play. Broadcast news staffers include Frank Mitchell, Burt Mummolo, Kristin Dickerson and Clint Boone of KTUL; Julie Chin, Russ McCaskey, Al Jerkens and Beth Burnett of KJRH; Carrie Netherton, Paul Heggen, Emily Sinovic, Abbie Alford and Mia Fleming of Fox 23; Sunny Leigh, Jean Heatherington and Andy O of KVOO; Joe Kelley of KRMG; Chris Wright and Scott Smith of KOTV; Chris Plank, Jeremie Poplin and Don King of The Buzz; Dave Weston of KRAV; and Phil Stone and Brent Douglas of KMOD.
Also participating are Betty Casey and Chuck Foshee of Tulsa Kids.
Sports celebrities will be Rod Thompson, former basketball player for the University of Tulsa; Shea Seals, who played at TU and with the Los Angeles Lakers; Kyley Tetley, Craig Walker and Mike Daniel, who have played in the Professional Golf Association; Rick Wrona, who played for the Chicago Cubs; Daniel Bobik, former basketball player at Oklahoma State University; Matt McCoy, former football player at the University of Oklahoma; Jerry Ostroski, who played for the Buffalo Bills, and Garrett Mills, who played for the Minnesota Vikings.
All proceeds will benefit the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, which aims to provide a safe environment for the homeless and serves an average of 400 people a day.
