Dfest on Tuesday announced its conference panel topics and its group of panelists speaking at this summer’s two-day event in downtown Tulsa.
Diversafest industry conference will be July 25-26 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in downtown Tulsa, with the music festival in the nearby Blue Dome District.
The two-day event is comprised of discussions on hot topics in the music industry, as well basics that anyone wanting a music industry or record business career can learn about. The conference will also feature demo listening derbies, one-on-one mentoring and music clinics.
The seventh annual Dfest is the Midwest’s largest music festival and most comprehensive music conference.
“Dfest continues to present relevant panelists with diverse backgrounds in all levels of the music industry, such as representatives from DIY, indie labels and major labels,” said Angie DeVore-Green, Dfest co-creator.
“From promoters and entertainment attorneys to marketing representatives and an impressive lineup of music supervisors, all musicians will have an opportunity to connect with some of the most important industry professionals at Dfest.”
Keynote speaker is Martin Atkins, owner of Invisible Records, Columbia College professor, former member of bands Public Image Ltd, Pigface, Ministry and Killing Joke and author of “Tour: Smart. He will speak about the nuts and bolts of his book and about touring.
Other panel discussions will include band agreements, budgeting, branding and marketing; benefits and
differences between the Performing Rights Organizations and understanding publishing; independent music licensing; press, marketing and tour strategies; sponsorships and alternative revenue streams; 360-degree record deals; the importance of blog buzz and social networking; understanding retail distribution and learning how to market and sell your own product; planning overall career strategies and how to use touring to support your release.
The Dfest conference will feature more than 40 panelists. For a complete listing, please visit

We're a month out and no schedule, no links to bands' sites, and no messageboard on the site to generate talk and excitement. This wasn't a problem the past couple of years.
