Inhofe still leading Rice, poll reveals
By RANDY KREHBIEL World Staff Writer

Incumbent U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe continues to hold a substantial lead over Democratic challenger Andrew Rice, according to the latest Oklahoma Poll.
Fifty-two percent of the 750 likely voters surveyed said they intend to vote for Inhofe, who is seeking his third full term. Rice polled at 30 percent, with 18 percent undecided.
The result was actually an improvement for Rice. In December, the last time the survey included an Inhofe-Rice matchup, the gap was 60-19.
"You are seeing some movement, but it seems unlikely to be enough to change the outcome," said poll consultant Al Soltow.
Oddly, Inhofe's share of the vote went down over the past seven months, while his approval rating went up 7 percentage points, from 54 percent to 61 percent.
Almost half of the Democrats surveyed gave Inhofe a positive performance rating.
Rice led 46-35 among Democrats, but Inhofe won Republicans by a margin of more than 8-to-1 and also had a slight edge among independents. Inhofe led 3-to-1 among evangelical Christians but was no better than even with nonevangelicals.
Support for Inhofe increased with household income.
"I think Inhofe has stubbed his toes a few times, especially on global warming," said Rice supporter Harry Jackson of Muskogee. "I think he's served his limit and we need somebody new."
"I hear that he's not doing a good job," said Billy Garrison of Tulsa, referring to Inhofe, "but I think he does a decent job for the conservatives. And I'm conservative
all the way."

Inhofe is only polling 52% against an unknown opponent?
But Inhofe will win easily. He is easily the dirtiest campaigner in Oklahoma history (which is saying a lot), and his tactics have been proven to be effective in many campaigns over the many years of his disgraceful political career.
Will Inhofe's signature issue this year be God, guns, or gays? I'm betting on gays. Gays never fail to get Oklahomans riled up.
Watch for Inhofe to paint Andrew Rice as the man who will turn Oklahoma into a destination for gays, from all across America. And don't forget - you heard it from me first!

Please tell us what Inhofe did that was disgraceful ,as I fail to remember. He learned how to fight dirty from the opposition.

Inhofe is an embarrassment to Oklahoma. He is a bought and paid for tool of the oil and gas industry. He spouts populist rhetoric at election time but votes for policies which benefit only the super rich. Oklahomans who vote for him deserve the shame that accompanies his election. If you are not a millionaire and you vote for Inhofe, you need to have your head examined.
Calling Rice or Obama a "liberal" is like calling McCain or Inhofe a "moderate" -- an out-and-out lie. Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Faux News and others have conspired to demonize the label of liberal, then use it on every Democrat. Rubes who fall for this should vote for Inhofe, I guess, and they will.

James: Embarassment would depend on your definition of embarassment. The Demos promote class bickering very well. The fact is there is more money on their side of the aisle. All I can rememer getting from them is more money taken out of my paycheck. They take money from the workers and give it to loafers so they will vote them in again. Too many want the bacon and they don't care who pays for it.

"Inhofe is only polling 52% against an unknown opponent?"
This begs for the question, "What should the numbers be?" to be asked.
This is certainly a change over last December. I would expect that Obama's crew would like to see this kind of spread (and climbing) right now with McCain.

Another Reasonaly Prudent Per: The Demos also take care of their wealthy friends and make them richer. Singing the praises of GW Bush will not be heard from me. The Demos are still mad at GW because he did not sit sit idly by and let Saddam snub his nose at the UN. 9/11 was not the reason we invaded as you like to claim. The Demos cannot take credit for all the things you spun off by themselves. All I ever hear from you folks is the last eight years. Demos have been in control of Congress many more years than have Reps. They are in control now. Poor people don't hire the workers either.Call things what you want . A reasonable person's definition of events does not correspond to your's.

I don't know who was called re this poll - I know I wasn't. Here's the recent primary results - 138,220 Republicans voted in the Republican primary - inhofe carried that by 84.2%. 190,749 Democrats voted in the Democratic primary - Rice carred that by 59.6%. There were a total of 328969 who voted in both elections - and the Democrats were 58% of the voter turnout - the Republicans were only 42%. If the numbers remain the same - each party voting for their own - seems Rice is gonna kick Inhofe's butt - smiles - works for me.

Who the heck are these 750 people being polled? They dont want Obama, they dont want Rice. Yeah lets just keep getting ripped off and let the US continue to go down hill. Oklahoma is really not doing that great except its near the top of the list for most bad things happening, poor health, poor schools, teenage pregnancy, BAD ROAD! , low paying jobs. WalMart is anti Obama... enough said that I will go out of my way to vote so WalMart cant destroy more of the world. Big Oil doesnt like Obama... IM FOR HIM! When are you people going to pull your heads out and figure out the people in Washington for the last 30 years dont give a crap about you. Its time for a change!

Oklahomans need to know that Andrew Rice spoke at the first annual dinner for the Council of American Islamic Relations in Oklahoma last fall.
This organization has been linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas. Their history is long and substantial. Rice did not put any information on his campaign website that he spoke at this event. I read about it on Qatar-based Islamonline.

Oklahomans need to know that Inhofe is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
He claims to care about how gas prices affect main street, but he's largely financed by the big oil bandits reaping in world record profits.
He claims to care about the true American heroes, veterans; then has one of the worst voting records of any republican regarding troop resources and benefits.
