Inhofe says patriotism question will sink Obama
PATRIOTISM QUESTION
Jim Inhofe and Barack Obama:
The senator from Oklahoma suggests voters will question Obama's love for his country.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe predicted voters' uncertainty over whether Barack Obama really loves his country will help Republicans win the White House again in November.
A spokeswoman for the Democratic nominee said Obama will not let anyone question his love of his country, adding that Americans have grown tired of cynical partisan politics such as challenging an opponent's patriotism.
Inhofe made his comments at a breakfast for the state party's delegation earlier this week at the Republican National Convention.
"I have no doubt in my mind that we are going to win this election, the presidency and vice presidency," the Oklahoma Republican said.
Inhofe recalled Obama's recent trip overseas.
"He had nothing but positive media all the time, and then he goes into their convention and comes out of the convention without a lead,'' he said.
"That's unheard of."
Regardless of what polls show, Inhofe said, voters will have to ask themselves a question once they get behind the curtain in the voting booth on Election Day.
"Do you really want to have a guy as commander in chief of this country when you can question whether or not he really loves his country?" he asked.
"That's the big question.''
Shannon Gilson, spokeswoman for Obama, said Friday that he has a plan to strengthen the economy and offer immediate relief to working families, while Republican nominee John McCain and his Washington friends such as Inhofe
are offering four more years of President Bush's failed economic policies.
"Sen. Obama won't let anyone question his love of this country,'' Gilson said.
"Challenging your opponent's patriotism to win an election is the type of cynical partisan politics Americans are tired of — and won't bring the change we need in Washington,'' Gilson said.
After he was asked for an explanation on why voters should question Obama's love for his country, Inhofe issued a written statement on Friday to clarify his earlier comments.
"Let me be clear,'' he said.
"I am not questioning Sen. Obama's patriotism, but you have to question why at times he seems so obviously opposed to public displays of patriotism and national pride, like wearing an American flag lapel pin.''
Inhofe said Americans can show pride in their country in different ways but suggested all should be straightforward.

Not liberals. I noticed you didn't offer any proofs of what you say, mentioned how you have experience in government so as to solve any problems. He did show us your very limited and meanspirited vocabulary. I would say more, but it's unfair to pick on dumb animals. So pop a top, beat the spouse and pet the pitbull, the rest of us have work to do...oh yes, save those neo-con knee pads, you're going to need them. You can get up now.

his country?"
2)"I am not questioning Senator Obama's patriotism..."
There is not a better, fresher example of Inhofe's tactics in winning elections - just sow the seeds of doubt and confusion and reap the election votes. Inhofe is a greased snake - there is no way to keep him from slithering. He leaves the venomous bites to his disciples, eh, Fish?

If you had called John McCain a crook, everyone would have understood. After all, McCain was determined to have improperly taken donations of cash and free trips from Charles Keating in the big "Keating Five" scandal early in his Senate career.
Instead, you called Joe Biden a crook. You have proven yourself to be typical of the Republican party in your failure to cite an example to support your assertion.

It's about real change and not the same old ultra conservative speal the neo's would like to scare the masses into. Nope real change will not come from McCain we need Obama in 08

Peelumba, it is hilarios to think about your comments. A fool who crashed 5 jets. How about a hero who was shot down serving his country to give you the right to complain about the greatest country in which to live? Who spent time in captivity being beat when I bet you won't even walk from the end of the parking lot into the malls. You have probably never given service to anyone, yet you slam a man that still suffers effects of his captivity today?
Everyone can keep beating Inhofe up, but he is a good man that stands for the good of our state and country. Just because he does not stand for your gay rights, abortion rights and actually calls for people to earn what they get, people want to make him out to be a bad guy.
Hmmm, makes one wonder? What social program have you been cut off of lately?

a, by calling Inhofe an idiot you have insulted many idiots.
One might question Inhofe's patriotism, since he supports an administration that has done so much to harm our country and its citizens. Also, he is harming his constitutents by staying in office, since he is such an imbecile.

After all, it was Obama's wife that said that she was finally proud of her country. And it is him in the picture not slauting the flag. But, oh, I bet we get all kinds of comments about why that happened.
Keep on dreaming that he is the best man for the country. How about getting over the hatred of George Bush that you keep festered and make the decision based on the candidates accomplishments.
Flame On!!! Remember, Liberals cannot defend the issues, so they attack the messengers.

Sew the seeds of doubt and reap the harvest of ignorance. That's Inhofe's strategy...always has been and always will be. He got it straight out of the GOP machine strategy memo that Carl Rove wrote.
It's time for us to think differently. Blindly following these idiots for another term will be the death of America. True patriots will vote for what's best for America. Surely, patriots will not want to continue America's falling global status. Surely, patriots will not want to continue American policies that bully global neighbors into submission. Surely, patriots will not want to blindly march toward a religious center that excludes those who share differing belief foundations. Surely, patriots will not want to exclude those Americans who choose alternative lifestyles from enjoying the same benefits as their American neighbors who do not. Surely, patriots will rise and vote with their minds...and learn to remove the leash from around their necks.
Surely, we're able to demonstrate true patriotism to Mr. Inhofe and his fellow lemmings.

If you are an example of our career military (which I know you are not, I have many friends that are career military enlisted and commission) then we are in sad shape indeed. Your writing is sophmoric on a good day, ill informed and sticks of that is just flat uneducated. For you own sake please have an adult look over your work. The issues? Like the flag lapel pin issue, or the unfounded fear, uncertainty, and doubt over his patriotism? How about the email circulations about his ties to radical Islam? I haven't heard anything about the real issues out of the Republicans when they attack Obama, it's always FUD over patriotism, celebrity status, etc. Nothing substantial. What does that tell you? Republicans are only going to get votes from people who actually enjoyed the last 8 years of Bush, and that goes for you too, Inhofe. Enjoy private life after the election.

This time around they are endorsing him so all those comments should just be forgotten. Im sick of the Republican two step.

Unfortunately, Inhofe's statement of... "predicted voters' uncertainty over whether Barack Obama really loves his country will help Republicans win the White House again in November." is probably true.
There are a lot of voters who just have to hear that "Obama's not wearing his lapel pin again" and will therefore vote for his opponent. These are the same people that just have to hear the words "conservative", "family values" or "prolife" and they're ready to vote. (There is nothing, by the way, inherently wrong with any of those phrases.) I'm simply stating that diligent research will not be done by the majority of voters this fall. They will vote out of fear & prejudice (... and probably a healthy dose -of biased, un-researched emails about the candidate's personal lives). That's how we got a second "W" administration. People voted out of fear. (Are we at terrorist code "Orange" or "Yellow" right now?) Most will know very little of either's true economic plans, potential advisors, or domestic policies.
Inhofe uses similar tactics in his campaign to dupe voters. It's worked very well for him for many years. So when Inhofe says that things like lapel pins matter – he knows of what he speaks.

My Repub friends in South Carolina told me that in 2000 the Bushies had churches distribute phamplets, initiate anonymous calls and start a gossip campaign that (shudder) McCain had fathered a black child and was nuts as a result of his long confinement. They could easily have mentioned his incompetence as a student at Annapolis, his hopelessness at being able to fly a plane, taking the Keating bribes, dumping his wife for the beer baroness, using obscene language on the floor of the Senate, etc. but chose racism and slander, items which particularly appeal to Inhofe and his ilk.

Anon: Your are very correct, issues. Slaming folks will not solve problems. However, remember---admitting to the problem is the first step. Many will not admit to the problems of the last eight years because it is easier to spread fear and admit to problems, fear and name caling also makes it easier to sidestep solutions. The solutions of the last eight years HAVE NOT WORKED, admitting to that will be a step toward the America we should and want to be, not some political image of a divorced reality.

Funny he should mention the flag lapel pin, Where was McCains Thursday?
I guess he hates our country too.
For someone who is so aggressively pro-war, he's incredibly anti-veteran and anti-service member.
The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America looked at his voting record and gave him a D-.
On October 5, 2005 his deciding vote against the bipartisan Health Care for Veterans Amendment
killed a bill that had passed in the House 398 to 19. The following month Chuck Grassley and
Barbara Boxer co-sponsored a bill to get desperately needed funds for counseling, mental health,
and rehabilitation services for veterans diagnosed with mental illness, post-traumatic stress disorder,
or substance abuse. Again, Inhofe voted against our military veterans. That's been his pattern,
a pattern that includes outrageous tax cuts for millionaires while short-changing vets.

His voting record on active duty military personnel is abysmal-- the worst in the entire U.S. Senate. Of the 14 roll calls involving the welfare of our fighting men and women since May, 2003, Inhofe has voted against them a breathtaking 14 times.
And this loser has the gall to question anyone's patriotism!!
Crawl back in your cave Inhofe.

Oklahomans deserve better. Inholfe and his pal part-time Tom Coburn are midgets in comparison to the accomplishments for our state of another Oklahoma Senator, Robert S Kerr.

Giving credence to anything Inhofe says is sort of like an IQ test. If you place any value in his opinions you are better off not mentioning it. His impotent form of patriotism, too often seen in others, has weakened our country. Judging patriotism by whether one wears a little metal flag in the lapel is a mental defect.
As to McCain: Being in combat and a prisoner of war earns our gratitude, and support upon the soldier’s return home, but the experience does not qualify or prepare one for the presidency. The experience can be damaging to one’s balance and judgment, leading perhaps to a short temper and snap judgments, for example . . .
