He plans to attend a health-care discussion and then a fundraiser.

WASHINGTON — President Bush is scheduled to visit Oklahoma City on Friday to participate in a health-care discussion and attend a fundraiser for the Republican Party and John McCain's presidential campaign.

White House press spokesman Blair Jones said Bush will participate in a roundtable discussion on health savings accounts at the Presbyterian Health Foundation Conference Center.

The morning event will be hosted by the Small Business Administration and the Oklahoma City Women's Business Center, he said.

Bush supports health savings accounts as a way to give consumers more control over how their health-care dollars are spent and to give small businesses more options in that area, Jones said.

Later, Bush is scheduled to attend a fundraiser for McCain for President and the Republican National Committee.

That event will be held at a private residence in Oklahoma City.

Bill Price, one of the McCain campaign's Oklahoma co-chairmen, said the money will go to the RNC, adding that it will benefit the party nominee's effort, as well.

Tickets for the event will cost $1,000. For $5,000, donors can get a picture with Bush, and for $25,000 they can get a brief meeting with the president.

Price said McCain, who was in Oklahoma several months ago, has not yet scheduled a return visit.

A President playing a fund-raiser at a private home seems like a VERY small crowd for a man in his position. He avoided the Republican convention too. What gives?

Look during 9/11 the PRESIDENT sat there and continued to read to children... and youre going on about his plight with the gulf states! I help hurricane Katrina vicitims so dont tell me it takes the PRESIDENT OF THE USA 5 days to get water from Washington to LA. The USA was sending Georgia ships loaded with goods after RUssia bombed them... heck the ship was there 4 days after it happened and that was around the world!

Youre the one that is ignorant! Pull your head out why dont you!
You think Bush couldnt go to the RNC because of a hurricane! LOLLOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Maybe I should have left off the part about the RNC. It seems so strange that the President would attend a fund-raiser at a private home even if it is a group of very rich people.

Any event that Bush attends must be small and private. His audiences must be carefully screened to keep out anyone who might express disagreement with his policies.

How did he get elected in the first place? How did he get RE-elected?

Probably at a private home at request of McCain who is trying to avoid being painted as McBush or adding another four years to the worst eight presidential years in our history. I would love to see the names of the idiots who would pay 5k to be photographed with this dolt.

Bush didn't avoid the RNC, the McCain campaign was trying to have it both ways. They accepted a small taped statement, instead of having him appear in person. That way they could please the 28% that still think Bush is worth something, and deny that McCain and Bush are basically the same person.

The hurricane was a convenient cover, as if a do-nothing president ever really has something better to do.

It is always a good thing when Bush is not in the White House... our nation is better and safer when he is not there!

President Bush has kept you mindless dimocrats safe from terrorist attacks for the past 7 years. Get a brain.

How it must annoy you liberals that McCain will win this state in a landslide. McCain will be our next President.
