Anabolic steroids seized from Bixby home
Bodybuilder Chris Waid's home was tar- geted, records show.

Bodybuilder Chris Waid's home was targeted, records show.
Vials of illegal anabolic steroids have been seized from the Bixby home of a nationally competitive bodybuilder by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control.
Court records state that highly potent anabolic steroids, intramuscular needles and syringes commonly used to inject performance-enhancement drugs were found at the home of Chris Waid, an "accomplished and competitive bodybuilder" who lives in the 9000 block of East 136th Street.
Also seized were dozen of tablets and bottles that were sent to a drug-testing laboratory to determine whether they are anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancement drugs.
Armed with search warrants, agents seized the items during several searches of Waid's home since Oct. 23, according to a police affidavit filed last week.
OBNDD officials declined to comment on the seizures, but court records show that they are part of an ongoing investigation, and sources have told the Tulsa World of a recent grand jury investigation into the use and distribution of anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancement drugs in the Tulsa area.
Since December 2007, agents have seized a "large quantity of anabolic steroids from several unrelated individuals" in the Tulsa area, according to the affidavit, signed by an undercover agent who is a legal expert on the illegal use of performance-enhancement drugs.
Waid, also spelled Wade in some records, placed 10th
in a national bodybuilding competition in Dallas in August, according to bodybuilding Web sites.
Waid competes in the National Physique Committee bodybuilding organization, which says it doesn't condone the use of illegal performance-enhancement drugs but doesn't test competitors for illegal steroids.
The affidavit alleges that Waid used steroids to prepare for the competition in Dallas.
Two confidential informants told the undercover agent that Waid also has been distributing anabolic steroids and illegal performance-enhancement drugs in the Tulsa area, according to the document.
Authorities also obtained a warrant to seize cell phone records, computers and electronic storage devices to provide further evidence of Waid's steroid use and distribution, according to court records.
Waid, who could not be reached for comment, is one of several people in the Tulsa area who have been linked in court documents to the use and distribution of steroids and other performance-enhancement drugs.
In March, steroids and human growth hormones were seized from the Tulsa home of Guy Ducasse, a professional bodybuilder, according to court records.
Authorities believe that Ducasse was a main distributor of anabolic steroids and other illegal performance drugs in Tulsa.
Mark Woodward, a spokesman for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control's office in Oklahoma City, said in April that agents had received a significant number of calls from high school coaches who were concerned about possible steroid use among their players.
Also in March and April, a large quantity of steroids and human grown hormone were seized at the Broken Arrow home of Chris Goodman and at his south Tulsa fitness center, formerly known as both Physical Edge and Hi Octane.
Steroids, human growth hormone and other illegal performance-enhancement drugs have also been seized at the home of Keith Koppenhaver, also of Broken Arrow.
OBNDD officials would not comment regarding when arrests or charges might be made.

Worked with this guy at a gym years ago. Not the brightest guy, and not well liked (pompous). His natural physique is average to just above average, which means that to be remotely competitive in these events he'd have to use steroids. Unfortunately, that's the mentality that many of these events create...and guys want to compete but don't have the genetics for it, so they turn to the juice. Bodybuilding in general is an unhealthy sport. If you want to get a healthy heart and strong muscles, try Crossfit.

Crossfit is an exercise regime that is pretty tough. Think of the guys in the movie "The 300". It is possible to look like that without steroids but it is a lot of hard work. Crossfit is the kind of exercise that if you can make it through a month of it... well I would be very impressed.

Nah, those cops were cleared. Remember? That must have just been an awful rumor. Cops would never use steroids......or at least convict each other of it.

Ok people it is time to stop showing your ignorance about steroids and falling into the misinformation bandwagon that was created by politics. Steroids are nothing but a supplement in order for someone to excell and go to the next level. They are not and should in no way be considered in the same catagory of dangerous narcotics such as crack, meth, heroine etc. Cortizone is a steroid and how many people and sports figures use it? A lot!! But yet nobody calls that performance enhancement. What about Tiger Woods lasic eye surgery that improved his vision to 20/15? That is better than normal and in a sport that depth perception is key isn't that perfomance enhancing? I am all for the safety of health and maintaining an even playing field but let's get realistic, steroids are not a wonder drug. Steroids will only work with what someone has and will only allow them to achieve greater results with hard work and dedication. Most of the people that bad mouth steroids are one, ignorant of their properties and usage, and two have no clue the amount of effort that it takes to achieve results even with steroids. It is not something that one just takes and then boom you're instanly muscular. You have to work out like an animal, eat properly and often, and get plenty of rest. It takes discipline and extreme dedication and is by no means a short cut.
I could go down a list of how steroids are used in everyday medicine but that would take way too long. If you are really interested in the dangers of drugs/supplements then look no further than vitamins, like vitamin C. Pull up the information are known side effects and I assure you you will think twice about taking it. In contrast there is no medical documentation that has proven any of the supposed side-effects of steroids. Sure you may hear a doctor say this and that, but I guarentee that he can't find a proven study to support his accusations.
I am by no means advocating the use of steroids and definintly not advocating the use by anyone under 18 years old. I think is ridiculous and a waste of resources to go after productive citizens that for the most part are not involved in other criminal behavior.
So according to our free society; I can take a diuretic to lose weight, because I let my fat, lazy, undisciplined self get bloated, but I can't take steroids to gain muscle to improve my physique, confidence and overall health. I get it.......NOT!!!!!!
Did you know that there were more hours spent on capital hill discussing steroids then there were hours spent discussing the war in Iraq? In the entire time spent talking about steroids not a single scientific study was produced.

Marine2.0: Agreed, it's the abuse of steriods that's the problem. The side-effects of hyper-dosing of steroids are well known. Most people don't have physiques which are perfect for winning bodybuilding competitions, and some guys (and gals) are driven to try the roids to try to be competitive.
Truth Patrol: I stand by my comment that most bodybuilders aren't healthy. They look great, and can lift a weight 12 reps with great form in a controlled motion. But try running a fast mile, throwing hay, climbing a rope, running an obstacle course. Most of the true bodybuilders avoid most heart-related (cardio) activity; it restrains pure muscle size. They crater when asked to do real-world, difficult physical activity involving sustained strength, endurance and flexibility.
Crossfit is hard but it's scalable. It works well for people out of shape too, but it's best to find a trainer or gym who can help get up to speed. It's not easy though, but it's probably the fastest way to lean down and get in general fit shape. crossfit com.

Marine2.0,
You are right. Excellent points! You always see articles about how "bad" steroids are for you but you never see studies or cases that DIRECTLY show a death caused by steroids. That's because THERE ARE NONE! Steroid use is much more common than most people want to believe. You don't have to look like a bodybuilder to be a steroid user. In fact, most steroid users don't even compete in sports. They just want to look better. So it is OK for a woman to go under the knife for breast surgery, tummy tuck, liposuction, nose job, etc but men can't look better via hormone enhancement? Yeah, that makes sense. And when was the last time you heard of someone doing armed robberies to support their steroid habit? Never?
Come on, cops. Put your energy to better use.
