Their names were memorable, but their disco night singing on “American Idol” - not so much.

Memphis mom Lil Rounds and North Carolina grad student Anoop Desai were sent home on Wednesday’s results show, both getting knocked by judges for hitting sour notes on disco night. Two singers were sent home Wednesday because no one was eliminated last week.

Rounds had struggled in recent weeks to wow judges as much as she had in the competition’s earlier weeks.

Her version of Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” was critiqued as “karaoke,” and judge Kara DioGuardi said that while Rounds’ fans had waited to hear her sing Khan, her performance was “not worth the wait.”

Desai got mixed reviews for his take on Donna Summer’s “Dim All the Lights,” with three of the judges saying his vocals were strong, despite problems with the arrangement and a missed note at the end.

Simon Cowell was not as kind, calling it “mediocre at best” and Desai’s “worst performance by a mile.”

Both Rounds and Desai seemed to get better reactions from the audience and judges for their post-elimination reprise of both songs, but the viewers’ 45 million votes were already tallied.

Because both singers made the top 10 cut, they will appear on this summer’s “Idols Live” tour, which will stop at Tulsa’s BOK Center on July 24.

The remaining five contenders are Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey and Matt Giraud.
