Grammy-winning Australian country crooner Keith Urban was confirmed Friday for an Aug. 7 show date at the BOK Center.

Opening will be Sugarland, confirmed Casey Sparks of the BOK Center in an e-mail to the Tulsa World.

Tickets for the show will go on sale 10 a.m. May 16, and pricing is $20, $47.50 and $77 plus fees. They can be purchased at tulsaworld.com/BOK, Reasor's stores, Arby's Box Office, or by calling (866) 7-BOKCTR.

Urban is one of the industry's most critically hailed live acts, and will bring his "Escape Together World Tour" to Tulsa for one show.

"Sugarland and I are going to give our fans in Tulsa a night to remember," said Urban in a press statement. "A night where they'll be able to leave their cares at the door and just let loose for a few hours."

2009 is already a busy one for Urban. While his 58-city North American concert tour launches this month, his fifth studio album, "Defying Gravity," is in stores now. The CD's first single "Sweet Thing," gave Urban his 10th No. 1 country single, and his newest release "Kiss A Girl" is climbing the charts.

Sugarland duo will perform all of their hits, including their No. 1 hits: "Who Says You Can't Go Home," "Settlin'," "All I Want To Do" and their most recent No. 1 from their current CD "Love On The Inside," "Already Gone."

Elvis to enter Cain's

Correction
This story originally stated that tickets are $47. The
base price of the tickets is $40, but included fees may add up to $47. The story has been corrected.

Cain's Ballroom announced Friday that Elvis Costello and his band, The Sugarcanes, will perform one show at the historic venue on Sept. 3.

Well-known for creating his own distinctive soul-infused sound blending English pub scene, punk, new wave and rock, Costello is possibly best known for popular songs "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding," "Alison," "Accidents Will Happen," "Pump it Up," "Radio Radio," "High Fidelity," "Pills and Soap" and more.

His new album, "Secret, Profane and Sugarcane," is due in stores on June 2.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 15 via ProTix.com, the Cain's box office, Reasor's stores, Starship music, or by calling (866) 9-PROTIX. Tickets for the all-ages concert are $40 in advance, but included fees may add up to $47. All tickets are general admission.

His newest album was produced by T. Bone Burnett and recorded with some of America's finest players of traditional country music and bluegrass. Joining Costello on the album and on this tour are Jerry Douglas (dobro), Stuart Duncan (fiddle), Mike Compton (mandolin), Jeff Taylor (accordion) and Dennis Crouch (double bass).

Costello is a longtime fan of Oklahoma native and musician Wanda Jackson. Her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year was due in large part to his grassroots efforts and letter-writing campaign that spanned years. Jackson is credited with being the first woman to record a rock song, with "Let's Have a Party" in 1958.

Lips kiss Pitchfork

The Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago and the Flaming Lips announced new details Friday about the band's festival performance.

The veteran psychedelic rockers from Oklahoma City will close out the 2009 Pitchfork Music Festival on July 19 at Chicago's Union Park. And, due to popular demand, the Flaming Lips will play selected requests from fans in the "Write the Night" format.

All ticket buyers, including those who have already purchased, will be sent a link via e-mail and have the chance to vote on requests. (Full, three-day passes are already sold out; one- and two-day passes passes are still available.)

Said Lips frontman Wayne Coyne in a statement: "The Lips are more than glad to be part of 'Write the Night.' They will do their best to accommodate the wildest and most obscure of requests — covers included."

Ballot boxes are open until June 12. See tulsaworld.com/PitchforkFest.

I am so glad Tulsa has the BOK Center. We would of never been able to get the top notch entertainment like we have the last couple of months without it. They keep getting top notch entertainers and people keep coming. What a great investment into this city and what a great entertainment venue for of the entire metro area.

Thank you shooter! So glad that we dont have to go to OKC or Dallas to see big names now! This is a big improvement in Tulsa and will bring big business, and more money to the state, and county!
The BOK center is ONE of the only reasons Tulsa is No. 1 in best places to live! Good Job BOK! Can't wait to see Joyce Meyers next week!

Saw Sugarland at the Cains a couple of years ago and they put on a great show. I was 4 rows from the front and they were awesome!!! Was planning on going to see them in OKC on 9/11 but inside the BOK under the a/c will be sooooo much nicer. Not anything against the Zoo Amp. but I don't like to sweat and fight skeeters all night.

BOK is proving to really be a special place in Tulsa - thank you to everyone that helped make it happen! As for the parking downtown on an event night, well that is a different story!!!
