This summer heats up with a tour from one of the hottest musical artists to move from the big screen to the arena concert stage.
Jamie Foxx will play Tulsa's BOK Center on July 9.
Foxx begins his summer tour in July, and Tulsa will be one of his first stops.
Foxx released his third musical album in December, "Intuition," which features Kanye West, T.I., Lil Wayne and T-Pain. His newest single, "Blame It" featuring T-Pain, hit No. 1 on the Billboard R&B charts in February.
Tickets start at $59.75 plus fees, and go on sale at 10 a.m. May 15 via
tulsaworld.com/BOK
, Reasor's stores, at the Arby's Box Office or by calling (866) 7-BOKCTR.
Foxx, born Eric Marlon Bishop, is well known for his acting and stand-up comedy and is a rising star for his musical talent, too. For his work in the biopic, "Ray," where he starred as music legend Ray Charles, Foxx won an Academy Award for Best Actor. He's also won a Golden Globe for his musical/comedy acting and several Grammy nominations.
He began piano lessons at age 5 and released his first full-length studio album, "Peep This," in 1994.

Not really into his type of music; however, this guy is uber talented and probably puts on a great show. I'm sure his fans are excited.

Yep Arby, and the only thing that would make it better is if David Alan Grier was his backup singer, and the In Living Color dancers were there as well......

Actually, I'm a big fan of Jamie Foxx and all of the progress he's made as both a dramatic actor and musician. I was really impressed when I saw he performed the vocals himself in Ray.

I bet he's got some smart things to say about Reese Witherspoon (pictured) like he did Miley Cyrus.

I love his movies but the music ack. He actually didn't sing any of Ray's music in the movie. Only early in the movie where he was covering other artist's songs.

I loved Jamie Foxx in Collateral, starring opposite Tom Cruise. I'd never given him a lot of credit as an actor, but he really stole the show in the movie.

I'll pass. What kind of guy makes fun of a 16 year old. He's probably jealous b/c she sounds better and her movies and tv show are more popular too. I didn't believe his apology on Leno/Letterman he'll just probably "Blame it on the...."

I lost respect for Mr. Foxx when I heard his rant about Miley Cyrus.
I'm not a fan of hers but his vulgar tirade was uncalled for.
Don Imus was fired for the same type of statement.
He won’t get any of my money.

He was making fun of Cyrus because of her looks and someone on his staff/crew called her "that white b...h". If that's not racist what is? Where is the NAACP leading protests to get him fired like they did with Imus?
If he wants to be tasteless and not funny thats fine, but why does she have to be a white b...h, why couldn't they just call her a b...h? If someone had said that about his daughter he would have been up in arms, and rightfully so.

ANM, stuff a sock in it. Jamie Foxx is extremely talented musically and is funny as well. He will draw a huge crowd.
It's hilarious to watch white people get their undergarments in a tangle when they perceive racism directed at someone else who is white.

Why is it hilarious for racial name calling that comes from blacks to whites but a travesty when it is from whites to blacks?
I didn't say he wasn't talented and that he wouldn't draw a huge crowd. I'm just saying there is a double standard here. Imus said something tasteless and not funny as did Foxx. People were all over Imus and Foxx gets a pass. Just not right.
I need to put a sock in it just because I have a different opinion/perception than you? I'll put a sock in it right after you get bent.
