When a Beatle comes to town, the money follows.

The Aug. 17 Sir Paul McCartney show at Tulsa's BOK Center is the venue's top ticket-grossing concert, with $2.6 million in sales, in the year since it opened.

"This was McCartney's only performance in an arena in the country, with the rest being in stadiums," BOK Center General Manager John Bolton said. "That really elevated the status of our market."

But Bolton said there aren't many arena acts anywhere grossing that much in ticket sales.

"It provides proof that Tulsa can support any act of this caliber," he said. "People in the industry really noticed this event. It's an amazing statistic to put on our venue resume."

Just being in the presence of Paul McCartney brought a euphoria that doesn't subside. He delivered beyond wildest expectations. It was sublime, the most significant performance I've ever attended, worth every tight penny and more.

I'm sure every attendee feels the same gratitude I do for the time and effort he expended for our enjoyment. It was affirmed every minute he was onstage that the good and caring soul lurking behind all those lyrics is real, that he is exactly the kind and decent human being we always suspected.
