Rob Hisey did not need long to adjust to playing in the Central Hockey League with a new team and a new coach.

The Oakville, Ontario, native needed only 19 minutes to score his first goal for the Tulsa Oilers in their season opener at Mississippi, and he ended the night with a hat trick as Tulsa won 6-3.

In last Saturday's home opener at the BOK Center, Hisey picked up his fourth goal in a 3-1 victory over Wichita.

"I just got a couple lucky breaks and it snowballed from there," Hisey said of his three goals in the opener.

"I have been playing in Europe for four years, so it took me a period that first game to get back in the swing of the North America game. The rinks are a little smaller here, and it is a little harder to find the spot. But I am getting use to it now."

Hisey would like to add to his scoring totals when Rapid City comes to the BOK Center at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday. The Rush lead the Northern Conference with a 3-1 record.

"Rapid City is off to a good start, and we have to establish our rink as a tough place to play," Hisey said. "We will just take it a game at a time and keep working hard and hope the bounces will go our way."

Hisey says the Oilers are working well together and will be a good team.

"It has been going well," he said. "I think we have a great group of guys, we all get along and we are building some chemistry."

Being in the right place at the right time led Hisey to Tulsa.

"He (Oilers coach Bruce
Ramsay) always comes up to Canada every summer to help with a hockey camp, and we just started talking. He was interested in having me," Hisey said of his move to Tulsa.

"With my wife (Brooke) giving birth to our first child (7-week-old Hudson), we made a family decision to stay in North America this year, and it has been great."
