War & Remembrance: Steven White

Based in Fort Hood, Texas
Died Aug. 13, 2003, in Iraq
Although he graduated in the east Texas town of Fruitvale, White, 29, served four years of his nine years of active service at Fort Sill in Lawton, his wife, Laniece said.
His four children range in age from 15 to 4.
"His heart really went out to the children in Iraq because it made him think of how fortunate his own children were not to have this in their backyard," Laniece said.
She successfully pushed for the establishment of a veterans memorial in the Texas county in which she lives.
"It's something I'm very proud of. It's been a long time coming."
