Should the Voting Age Be Lowered?

Have you ever thought that the government should lower the voting age? I think that they shouldn’t.

Lowering the voting age might put kids in a bad mood. Many people feel stress when deciding whom to vote for or in making other important decisions. Some kids may not be able to handle the stress either and then just vote for a random candidate. Or, some might just vote for whomever, just for the fun of it.

Many kids may vote for a candidate simply because their parents support that candidate. I understand that because I trust my parents and would just vote for whoever they’re voting for as well.

Some people don’t agree with me and they think kids should vote. They think young people are mature enough and smart enough to vote. But, others say that young people’s lives are in turmoil. That turmoil could affect voting because they might not be thinking clearly.

The voting age was set to age 18, because that is when you can serve in the military and die for your country. I agree with that age limit. I wouldn’t want some kids voting on our president that will be here for four years, and I don’t think you would either.
