When I read the book My Dad, John McCain, I have to admit that the first thing I noticed was the illustrations. I think that Dan Andreasen did a beautiful job on the pictures.

In addition, the actual story, written by Meghan McCain – John McCain’s oldest daughter – proved to be just as good. The book, a children’s story, tells all about McCain. It covers the time he was born at a Navy Base to his time as a prisoner of war to when he decided to run for president. Meghan McCain tells us all about his presidential traits, especially how he never gives up.

I think that this would be a great book for a kid wanting to know more about the people wanting to lead their country or even a teen or adult wishing to catch a glimpse into the perspective of John McCain’s daughter. Read and enjoy, and in the meantime, I’ll be reading up for my next piece, a Barack Obama picture book!
