American Electric Power-Public Service Company of Oklahoma has reduced the number of Tulsa-area customers without power to about 38,600.

That's an improvement of about 9,000 customers overnight, and an additional 10,000 customers as of 7:00 p.m. Sunday.

Statewide, AEP-PSO has another 2,000 customers without service, said spokeswoman Andrea Chancellor.

''Tulsa remains the hardest hit,'' Chancellor said.

The company hopes to have all electrical service restored to Tulsa homes by sometime Tuesday.

I hope that everyone in South Tulsa enojoyed there power last night! I am sitting at my local coffee shop, nose-running, cold, well i guess its ok, my house was only 42 degrees when I slept last night. That beats the 39 degrees it was the night before. I have not seen a crew member within 5 miles of my area (or I would thank them). All of you people who say to thank the crews, well, its kinda hard when you dont see any! Of course, this is not about me, I will be fine, This is about my 85 year old grandmother that I am staying with, who now has pnemonia, and after her 8th day of having out at shelters all day, she is tired of going there. So, why dont all of you people who supposedly have been helping come to N. Tulsa and help for a bit, I would just like to see crews or my fellow S. Tulsa citizens helping out! Because there is only so much we can do!

On Thursday at noon, AEP's restoration map indicated that my power was back on!! Not so. When I called (Ohio no doubt) to inform them of this map's inaccuracy, the nice man told me my power would be restored Saturday by midnight. Not so. Now, I see the revised map shows me scheduled for restoration on Tuesday by midnight.

I can only include that AEP is either lying or incompetent. Actually, I think they're just lying incompetents.

Oh yes, did I mention that I paid PSO to bury my lines in 1996?!

People. It is not PSO/AEP's fault that the ice came. They and several Electrical and tree removal Companys have come to our rescue and I am sure they are doing the best they can in this situation. You may have your lines burried but not everyone on your grid is burried. You cannot turn on the power until all the grid is secure. This is a fire hazard! Most all the trees that knocked down power lines were on private property and were the owner's responsibility not PSO/AEP. Maybe a kind word or a hot meal or just a hot cup of coffee or just a simple Thank You would be nice in this time of need...

I have to agree with Stan. I was told our power would be on Thursday, that was soon changed to Sat. and now it may be Sunday. I glad that 9000 more people have power; however, it you look at the AEP web site there was very little change on Sat. I believe 1000 more people were added on Sat.....not much improvement. What are they doing? I understand the crews are working around the clock and they are not to blame, bit it's getting old when you can't get answers.

I don't have sympathy for the workers "working long shifts, away from their families." I'm sorry, but I don't. They are getting paid you know. It IS their job, you know. Out of state overtime pay is pretty nice too. I mean, seriously, since when is being a lineman supposed to include warm sunny days, working three hour shifts, and sipping fruity drinks by the pool. A little advice, if you don't like your job, quit.

Private home owners are only responsible for the drop lines running from the pole to their houses, not the main power lines themselves. Call PSO, they will tell you the same. PSO is responsible for keeping the lines clear of limbs. Nine times out of ten, home owners are angry when the power company wants to trim their prized elm tree because it is encroaching on their lines. That is why they have right of way to enter your backyard to service their lines. If you really think PSO is in a rush to get power up for your sake, think about this: they want to restore power because they can only charge you for power if you have it.

It's the corporation commission that is ultimately responsible for this mess. Bob Anthony and his buddies let AEP return all their profits to their stock holders instead of requiring AEP to spend some of it on burring lines and trimming trees. Take a look at who is giving "Campaign Contributions" to the Corporation Commissioners. You will see that Bob Anthony and the rest of them are bought and paid for by AEP and AT&T. Anyone who would continue to vote for these "Guardians of the Public" deserves to sit in a cold dark house.

I have to agree with #10. it is their job and they are being well compensated for it. I have worked many long 14-15 hours days to make sure the customers I serve are taken care of. And I DON'T get paid overtime for this..it's my job if I want to keep my customers happy.

If I'm not mistaken, AEP has an easement to every property is serves and can bury its lines any time it see fit. Much like they can trim the trees on anyone's property without permission.

AEP -- and many ratepayers -- just don't want to spend the money required to bury the lines in midtown. If this had been started 20 years ago after the last major ice storm, we might not be in this situation currently.

I am grateful to the linemen. However, it's too much to ask me to appreciate being deceived by AEP as I approach my seventh consecutive day without electricity.

#9, Yes, I have electricity but I have more sympathy for those that do not. I have relatives and friends who have not had power for days. We have helped in any way we can. All I`m saying is, imagine how hard it would be to go for this length of time without the basics. I know the workers are doing all they can, but people are only HUMAN. Everyone has a point they reach where frustration, anger and anxiety set in. If you had nowhere to go, no one offering to let you move in for a few days and not enough money to buy your way out of this mess, do you think you could not have anything to gripe about after a few days?

Also, it`s "whether", not weather. (your 1st sentence)

This is ridiculous! I can't understand why so many people were left without power but Woodland Hills mall has been up and running since day one of this storm! Why did people have to wait for power to their homes while the people with power were out Christmas shopping! I was told I would have power Thursday night, I AM STILL WAITING!

Oh C'mon people. It's not the end of the world for you. My part of the state got hit hard from an ice storm in 01, and even with no power for 2 weeks (some people were powerless for over a month) I never once complained.People were working as hard as they could to get power back up and restored. They are doing what they can do. And #15, if the poorest part of Tulsa is the last to get power, it's not because it's the poorest part of Tulsa. They will look at all the variables, the amount of people without power per grid, the amount of damage that needs repaired, etc. They work it to get the highest amount of people back up with power in the least amount of time. When all you whiners get your power back and you are still complaining, just remember that there are still going to be some people out there without power. There will probably be people for another month in places without power. Live with it.

#9, It's called a hotel. I could sarcastically suggest that you look it up if you own a dictionary. Instead, I offer my own definition:

a facility that drains one's Christmas funds while he/she waits for AEP to restore his/her electricity!

We had elec from Wed night to Friday am, then it was gone again. We were told that it was turned off to "fix" someone else. We've seen no crews, can't discuss this with PSO, and one map from PSO says our power is all back on. Who are you kidding? For those of you that have power and are downing those of us that don't and need to vent, BACK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, we are grateful for the extra linemen, but really, Oklahoma always needs something.

This is to # 2 and the rest that live in North Tulsa:

Did it ever cross your feeble minds that maybe the workers are SCARED to work north Tulsa, what with the high crime rate north Tulsa is noted for. I would be scared to be working on a tall pole or a bucket truck and be an eazy target for some of the thugs in north Tulsa that love to do their " DRIVE-BY SHOOTINGS." I own a landscaping business, but I will not send my people to north OR east Tulsa to work. My employees lives are MORE important to me, than trying to help someone out that will not even as much as help themselves.

You complain that south Tulsa has power, well, someone has to work to pay north Tulsans power bills, because most of you depend on welfare bucks to pay your bills. So, quit your complaining, and wait your turn. That is, if you ever get a turn. Personally, I do not think you even deserve a turn !!!!

I moved from Tulsa to Gulf Shores, Al (near Pensacola, Fl) in November and boy do I not miss the weather from home. All my family is in Tulsa and from what they tell me the Northside is the last to be restored. It's those Tulsa values that made my decision to leave that red kneck town easy.

Thank-you to all the people working to get power restored ASAP to all those people that lost it. I am sorry for those who are still without power, but do not take it out on the line-men. It may be their job,but it is a dangerous one ,and if you feel that you need to take out your frustration on someone ,take it out on PSO management,by writing to them and your local reps. We will never be able to completely stop power outages, however we can improve on the current situation. Thanks again to all those working to restore power regardless where you are from.
