Residents can haul tree debris, or let the city do it

Residents with tree limbs and fallen trees in their yard have two options for removal, said Dan Crossland, deputy director of public facilities at the city Public Works Department. They can either cut the limbs and trees themselves and take them to one of two disposal sites or they can move the debris to the front yard behind the curb for city crews to take away.

For Tulsa residents removing debris themselves, disposal sites are located on 56th Street North between Mingo Road and U.S. 169, and on West 71st Street east of South Elwood Avenue, Crossland said.

The disposal sites, which are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, only accept tree debris, and the loads are inspected upon arrival and will be turned away if they consist of anything besides tree debris, Crossland said.

For those wanting the city to take the debris away, the limbs and trees do not need to be cut into smaller sizes, unless it is necessary to do so for the resident to move the debris to the curb, he said.

Residents wanting the city to remove the limbs should call 596-2100 to be put on a list, Crossland said.

thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I do not have the means to do this myself, and wondered what the heck I was going to do! I took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday to pull everything to the curb just to assess the damage, and was shocked at the extent of it.

My neighbor got through. He said if you call and get on the list you better have it all out on the curb, cause you only get ONE chance at the haul-away!

Wow... the city of Tulsa doesn't have enough money to fix the roads... but they have enough to buya new city hall... to pay for limb pickup that homeowners should be doing themselves.... to pay to repair 10,000 weather heads that again homeowners should be paying for... where is all this money coming from?
