He's accused of putting a video camera in the boys' bathroom at a Tulsa elementary school.
A former Springdale Elementary School teacher — convicted last year of possessing child pornography — was charged this week with setting up a video camera in an air vent above a boys' bathroom stall at the school.
William Lee Hunter Jr., 42, was charged Thursday in Tulsa County District Court with being a peeping tom with photographic or electronic equipment, a felony.
Hunter, who resigned from Tulsa Public Schools in June 2007 after 5 1/2 years with the district, is accused of setting up the video camera between August 2005 and June 2007 "for a lewd or lascivious purpose."
According to a police affidavit, a Springdale teacher found a videotape left in a Sony camcorder belonging to the school on April 2.
When she discovered the contents of the tape, school officials notified the police.
A detective wrote that Hunter "was seen in the tape placing the video camera behind a metal grate inside the vent, and he was seen wearing a TPS identification badge."
The taped footage is said to be about an hour in length and contains the sounds of the bathroom stall door opening and closing, children talking, toilets flushing, and "various other bathroom noises," according to the affidavit.
Assistant District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler said that according to police, no identifiable children can be seen on the video.
Kunzweiler said he believes
that the teacher who found the tape on April 2 "just happened upon it" as she was preparing to use the camcorder.
Hunter was arrested in July — one month after he resigned from TPS — after a security guard at the downtown Tulsa City-County Library saw him viewing child pornography on a library computer.
Hunter received a four-year, suspended sentence in September after he pleaded guilty to a felony count of possessing child pornography.
In accordance with a plea agreement at that time, Hunter was required to serve supervised probation but no prison time. He also was not required to register as a sex offender.

Wow, this is outrageous. I would like to know WHO the judge is. They want this guy to walk but remember the principal who had sex with the 17 year old and what they are going to do to him? Does that make sny sense?
This guy is a pedophile and he doesn't even have to register as a sex offender and no jail time. What a total travesty.

the reason for a suspended sentence is because they would have lost in a jury trial. Better to get some kind of a conviction. Now they can revoke his suspended sentence and no risk of loseing.

This is just one reason why I substituted at my kids school...the stuff you find in the teachers desks and classroom is just unbelieveable.
I agree with yaya...What an outrage!!! Pedophiles hunting grounds are schools, community centers, day cares, parks, libraries, etc...anywhere kids visit even the chuckie cheese.
As mother of 2, I was very vigiliant on this stuff, especially coming from Chicago. I really have to check out throughly to leave my kids with anyone...even teacher.
When I moved here, I asked to sit in on class and was denied. I couldn't believe it. So...I substitued every class, grade in school district.

A non-registered sex offender on probation. I wonder how far this guy's affliction will progress? I suppose we'll find out when he's in the news for acting on his impulses in a physical manner. He might even murder a child some day. This guy has the potential to do a lot of damage before the law actually does something about it. But by then it'll be too late, no telling how many lives will be adversely affected or even destroyed. Meanwhile the police are setting up roadblocks and hasseling law-abiding citizens in the name of public safety. Thereby violating our 4th amendment rights. The police need only observe traffic on any busy hi-way or street to see laws being broken. Then the police can legally stop violators and catch DUI offenders in a manner that is legal. You might say, "But parachuckmedic, if you're not doing anything wrong you should have nothing to worry about." There's plenty to worry about. I don't appreciate going about my business only to be delayed in traffic. Having to produce documents and explain where I'm going. As long as I'm within all legal boundaries it's no ones business but mine. Now if you're on the streets driving like some fool, Tulsa traffic, then you should be stopped. If law-abiding American Citizens continue to allow illegal searches in their automobiles; how long will it be before you hear a knock at your door? Only to have the police making "routine" home inspections. You'd better be careful as to what you will allow. It seems that the police could be making more than enough arrests by doing what they're supposed to be. Enforcing traffic laws that a multitude of Tulsa drivers violate continually. Now, as far as the pedophile goes, he should be in prison before he really does some damage. Which he will.

Wow it sounds like somebody has no problem with children being taken advantage of by sick pedophiles. If he was a good man he would not be looking at child porn and making tapes of boys in the bathroom.
Parachuckmedic, I have to agree with you completely
