Inhofe, Coburn endorse Bartlett

U.S. Sens. Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn on Saturday endorsed Republican Dewey Bartlett Jr. to be Tulsa's next mayor.

Oklahoma's Republican senators in prepared statements said that Bartlett, a former city councilor and the president of Keener Oil & Gas, will lead Tulsa based on conservative principles.

"Dewey has the private-sector perspective outside of politics that makes him the best choice for mayor," Coburn said. "He has provided leadership in his industry, he has executive experience, and he offers the best choice for Tulsa's future."

Bartlett's "dedication to and love for Tulsa can be seen in his years of volunteerism and civic involvement," Coburn said.

Inhofe, who is a former Tulsa mayor, said Bartlett is the conservative choice for the job.

"Dewey is the candidate who can lead the city in terms of creating an environment for citizens to pursue opportunities for growth and prosperity," Inhofe said.

The senators agreed the next mayor should work to make Tulsa safer, make the city more efficient and accountable by being a good steward of taxpayer dollars, and make it a better place to do business by reducing local government regulation and involvement in the private sector.

Bartlett will be on the Nov. 10 general election ballot with Democrat Tom Adelson and independents Mark Perkins and Lawrence Kirkpatrick.

Conservative principles of less regulation! Isn't that what got us into trouble with the Banks and Wall Street? Translation: No Rules for the big guy--he can make up his own as he reaches for your pocketbook.

I would be very skeptical of anyone or anything recommended by Inhofe and Coburn. Those two are class-A idiots.

Considering who is endorsing him and why, I can eliminate Dewey Bartlett from my choices this election.

An endorsement from Inhofe is like a pat on the back from Hitler. Without the charisma.

Thank you Senators Coburn and Inhofe, I was undecided between Adelson and Bartlett. Adelson gets my vote now!

Adelson is liberal idiot, I hope Dewey takes him to the cleaners like Inhofe did Andrew Rice.

Mich98, No, that's not what got us in trouble, it was to much regulation by the Government. Forcing banks to loan money to people who should have stayed renters.

RLG3RD apparently you are a party line thinker. Whatever they say is gospel to you. Try looking at it with an independent intellect.

Mich098,

I agree 100%. Both Adelson and Bartlett are pathetic. They've proven themselves already that they are NOT for the citizens of Tulsa or Oklahoma. They are both egotistical, self indulged, and both are notorious for lying.

Go Independent. There's supposed to be two Independent candidates running, it would behoove the citizens to go that direction.

There's only one real Independent candidate. Perkins is just masquerading as one, he's a registered Republican running as an Independent.

No surprise here. Further enforces my feelings (or lack thereof) for Inhofe and Coburn.

Thankyou Tommy and Jimmy. This republican still will vote for an alternative. Not Dewey, Jr.

Mich, actually RLG is correct. The regulations that were passed in Clinton's administration with the help of a majority (R) Congress allowed banks and Freddie and Fannie to loan money with less than the usually down payment. It worked to get people into houses, but it also worked to help spark the housing bubble that is trying to recover now. The W administration and Congress did nothing to change these regulations, but the majority of the Congress really had not changed so that is to be expected as they legislate. Now after the bubble hit, you will be expected to pay out a down payment again. This initiative had good intentions, but in the end it ended up putting people in houses they could ill afford to make the payments. Now this was not the only problem that made the economy arrive to it's current condition, but it did help it a bit. The fact that more conservative banks did not do this type of lending to a great extent make them the lead in banking in out country now, as they are the more stable banks.

This is one example of following the party lineover what is best for the people. Both Dewewy and Tom are elite, midtown, trust fund kids...and the will serve on those people as mayor.

Let go of status quo...vote Mark Perkins for mayor!

I agree, I am very strongly looking at Mark Perkins. I don't trust Adelson or Bartlett very far. Neither one has spoken about helping our area of town. We have had no representation in our area of Tulsa for years now.

This conservative will be voting Independant as Bartlett Jr. is a tax and spend liberal who has supported the current regime's fleecing of the taxpayer. Both Coburn and Inhofe have lost their principles and should be considered in a case study to support Congressional term limits.

trutho4freedom, in fact they all supported it even though they railed against it. It was all political. Even the Republican Eric Canter railed so loud against the stimulus but check facts out, his wife got a lot. This mess was made by the Republican Party.

The Obama Administration didn't want to see the pensions, etc for the little guy fail , like the teachers, police, etc go under or the banks all freeze up. I say let them all fail next time if this Administration doesn't change and put some Regulations on Wall Street, they are up to their same old tricks.

The rich always make it fine. They just want more socialism for their selves. it is the rest of us that would have problems.

Of course Will Rogers was a Democrat.
