Tulsa Elections: Read bios of candidates for mayor, City Council and city auditor and view a map of City Council districts.

Tulsa County Republican elected officials Wednesday endorsed Dewey Bartlett Jr. to be Tulsa’s next mayor.

Those lending their support to the GOP nominee include Tulsa County Commissioners Fred Perry and John Smaligo, Sheriff Stanley Glanz, Assessor Ken Yazel, Clerk Earlene Wilson and Court Clerk Sally Howe Smith.

Bartlett said his friendship with these elected leaders will help promote a better relationship between the city and the county.

“What I want to emphasize is that the city of Tulsa and the county of Tulsa are all in the same boat,” he said. “We’re affected by the same economy. We all are affected by the same tax structure. But at the end of the day, we provide public services and we can support each other very well.”

The county’s relationship with Mayor Kathy Taylor has been volatile, particularly in the negotiations over the Tulsa Jail which led to lawsuits.

Yazel said Bartlett is the only candidate to pledge not to raise taxes.

And Glanz said Bartlett will be a mayor “with a forceful arm to combat crime in the Tulsa region.”

“Bartlett, unlike his opponent, will focus on law enforcement instead of getting the city’s Police Department off track with
trendy social programs,” the sheriff said.

Perry cited Bartlett’s experience as a businessman, on the City Council and a member of civic groups as making him the best candidate for the mayor’s job.

.
Not with Palmer. He was asked if he would keep Chief of Police Palmer if elected, and he did not answer. That was one of the questions he was asked on KRMG interview. If he should be elected and keeps Palmer, our area will still be ignored. We are even advised by police officers not to press charges in our neighborhood.

Glanz: "...trendy social programs."

Haha! LMFAO!

He's basically saying that Adelson is a Socialist, which we all know is a dirty, dirty, word.

"Perry cited Bartlett’s experience as a businessman..."

If he's elected, watch your wallet. There's bound to be some thieving going on. Remember when Ms. Taylor pledged to "run the city like a business"? If you like her, you'll love Dewey...

The Repubs are already running a candidate for Addelson's Senate seat special election, which will only happen if he wins. In other words, his party thinks he's going to lose and has given up on him.

They can say they endorse him all they want, but actions speak louder than words...

So who cares who these nobodies endorse. They bleed, stink, and have stupid ideas like all humans. Use your own mind. Don't be swayed by public or private opinion. Elections aren't about who is the best qualified anymore, they are about who has the most contacts and money. How about none of the above?

Would have been news only if they hadn't endorsed him. Took them a while to get around to it. Cherokee, if you "secound" it, I'll "thurd" it!

No doubt!!! They have special plans for Bartlett. He just thinks he's going to be a mayor. If he wins, and the day of the swearing in, he'll get his assignments from the "power brokers" in charge.
