Adelson to speak today at luncheon
Other mayoral candidates will speak later.

Tulsa Elections:
Read bios of candidates for mayor, City Council and city auditor and view a map of City Council districts.
Democratic mayoral candidate Tom Adelson will speak at the Tulsa Press Club's Page One Luncheon on Friday.
Adelson, a state senator representing District 33, won the Democratic nomination in the Sept. 9 mayoral primary with 94 percent of the vote.
As a legislator, he has led efforts to solve financial problems that threatened the Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa and to establish an emergency residency program at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa.
Adelson faces Republican nominee Dewey Bartlett Jr. and independent candidate Mark Perkins in the Nov. 10 general election.
Bartlett will speak at the Page One Luncheon on Oct. 16. A local oilman and former city councilor, he has offered himself as the more conservative alternative and as having a better temperament for the Mayor's Office.
Perkins will speak at the Page One Luncheon on Oct. 23. He is a fourth-generation Tulsan.
After receiving his law degree, he returned to his hometown and started his own law practice before joining another firm.
Perkins is campaigning on solution-driven politics and a Tulsa-centric approach that he says is not tainted by national agendas.
The cost for Page One Luncheons
for members of the Tulsa Press Club is $15 and $20 for nonmembers. Lunch service starts at 11:15 a.m. with the presentation to begin at noon.
The Press Club is in the Atlas Life Building, 415 S. Boston Ave. To make a reservation for the luncheon, call 760-2664.

Enough of the negative ads. Don't tell us how bad your opponent is. Tell us what positive things you have done, what you believe in and what you are going to do to improve the city of Tulsa. Negative ads only display the negativeness of your personalities and it is ver unattractive and doesn't give Tulsans hope. Shame on both of you.

All three are eager to speak at clubs most people don't belong to. How about all three of them, actually sitting down and outlining what they intend to do for the Tulsa if elected. Put it in black and white. Then submit it to the TW to print for them.

I think that we should schedule a 3-way death match at the next wrestling event to determine the next mayor. I wouldn't vote for either of the two major candidates just for the simple fact that neither respects the rights of the other.

This is one of the few times that I hope the independent candidate wins. I cannot stand either the Democrat or Republican. If this is the best those parties have to offer then they should both get beat.

I don't trust Adelson, and I don't trust Bartlett. Don't know enough about Perkins not to trust him.

With what I've seen so far in this campaign, neither major candidate is fit to lead a parade, let alone our city. If they can't conduct theirselves during the campaign and get along, how in God's name will they work with the city council??

Don't any (male) candidates wear neckties anymore? What is this, a contest to be the most laid back lookin' guy?
Sharp intellect, sharp wit, sharp dresser. That's not a bad combination.
Bullhead: Believe it or not, that's a current photo of Bartlett.
BettyRubble918: Don't let the fact that Adelson has hair disguise the fact that he is a snake.
getreal: It's "nyuk, nyuk, nyuk" to be exact.

I agree. But instead of submitting to the TW, how about the three of them speaking/debating where most of Tulsa and other interested people can hear them.

I'm glad their appearances are at noon on a work day. That way there is no way that I'll be able to go. Why do they have these in the middle of the day? I see Bartell's thing is a luncheon so that makes sense. Maybe someone can answer that for me. I honestly think it would make more sense to have the speeches at night when more people could attend.

Thunder,
If Bartlett is the TW's fair haired child, they sure didn't do him any favors by debunking his latest put down of Adelson. I am afraid that if Adelson wins this race he would leave the State Senate and He has been a very good legislator. He makes sure that all of his people are represented with level-headed and well thought out moves. he works well with republicans and democrats but most of all he reads the bills and sees the problems that some of these bills would create.
Bartlett is a good businessman and I just wish he would stay that way too. I know both of these men and I think they are fine people.
I think that Mark Perkins will get my vote because I am as sick as all of you are with all of this silly negative adds. We have seen about 1/2 of a million dollars worth of these silly adds hitting the screen again and again. Take that money and send it to the Day Center for the Homeless or to Meals on Wheels.
If these two are trying to show me how they know how to spend money wisely, they flunked.

Bartlett and Adelson had a question / answer session on KFAQ 1170 AM Radio a few weeks ago. They were allowed to ask each other questions and had 90 seconds to answer, then each were allowed a response, and then a rebuttle. It was at 8:00 AM in the morning and I listened to it at work on my radio.
The debate was close but I thought Adelson was the winner.
Both, agreed to return for another debate, if Pat Cambpell invited Mark Perkins to join them on his show. The Pat Campbell Show.
Google the station for details on when the next debate will be. It was fair, impartial, and allowed both candidates to be heard. Bartlett didn't fair well when asked if he planned to step down from Keener Oil if he were elected and if he would take a salary from Keener while being Mayor. He didn't answer either question.
I do like that Mark Perkins will pull votes from Bartlett. I'm open to Perkins but right now, I'm leaning towards Adelson.

I never heard why Adelson is taking a career move down from Senator to Mayor?
Channel 6 usually holds a debate with the candidates but I haven't had time to keep up with the news. Has anyone else heard?
