Tulsa mayoral candidates will make many appearances over the next two weeks, but the Tulsa World and Cox Cable are co-sponsoring the only opportunity for residents to see and hear them live on TV.

Cox cable channel 3 will show a forum from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday that will feature Tom Adelson, the Democratic nominee; Dewey Bartlett Jr., the Republican nominee; and Mark Perkins, an independent candidate.

The forum, which is also being sponsored by Cox Communications, Oklahoma State University-Tulsa and the League of Women Voters, will be moderated by the former radio host John Erling and feature questions submitted by Tulsa World readers.

Other forums scheduled include:

  • 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Clinton Middle School, 2224 W. 41st St. The hosts are the League of Women Voters and Tulsa County News.

  • 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 1115 S. Boulder Ave. The host is the Tulsa Downtown Lions Club. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m.

  • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 100 E. Second St. The hosts are the Greater Tulsa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters.

  • 7 a.m. Thursday at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa. The host is the Tulsa Metro Chamber for the
    business community.

"The first will be shown live Tuesday night on Cox cable channel 3. ..."

Finally! Oh darn, Tuesday night I have plans and I can't record it. I hope Cox cable channel 3 shows it several different times this coming week, so everyone that wants to watch it can.

So Morlan, what do you suggest. Tulsa lure people from other towns and states with promises of jobs, money, a home to move here?

I like the fact that our land area is too big (more room to grow and develop), and population density being low, that way we are not over crowded.

I'd just like to see a civil debate that truly focused on the issue we are facing. It would be nice if the candidates were to focus on giving us solid proposals on how each would approach those problems.

It's coming down to the wire with only two weeks left to make your decision Tulsans. It will be interesting to see if the two continue to sling mud in their debates. I am wondering why the the other Independent candidate is not included though.

This ought to be good.

Time to take the gloves off.

None of the candidates for Mayor are addressing Tulsa's fundamental problem. Tulsa's land area is too big and its population density is too low. Consideration needs to be given to reducing the foot print of the City to reduce its cost of operation.
