A former student of Oral Roberts University dropped his lawsuit against regents of the university in a court filing Tuesday.

The suit against ORU itself and former president Richard Roberts and his wife, Lindsay, is still active.

Attorney Paul Boudreaux said Wednesday the lawsuit was being pared down and lawyers decided the regents did not need to be a part of it.

"Brown's case is more of a contract claim," he said.

The student, David Brown, will graduate from John Brown University in Arkansas this month.

In the lawsuit filed in November 2007, he alleged he was not able to complete his specialized history degree because one of his professors was fired.

Does the former president's wife need to be sued? Is this legitimate? I need more information I suppose.

Safe to say then, that Mr. Brown's ORU degree is history?
