Don't ditch your old duds — swap with other fashionistas and give them a crafty makeover at Saturday's Swap-O-Rama-Rama.

Tulsa's Swap — similar to recent meet-ups in New York, Los Angeles and Oklahoma City — will require participants to bring a $5 donation or bag of unwanted clothing to the Collective, 3148 E. 11th St.

From 1 to 6 p.m., participants can rummage through the clothing to gather materials and channel their inner fashion designer, using sewing machines provided by Singer.

Members of the Tulsa Craft Mafia will be on hand to give tips and ideas for revamping outfits and reusing the old clothes.

"It's a creative free-for-all," said Christine Crowe, Tulsa Craft Mafia member and one of the swap's organizers.

It's also putting the principles of "freecycling" into play — trading and remaking old stuff instead of buying new materials and creating waste, she said. Participants can make yoga bags out of old pant legs and shirt sleeves, tote bags out of old T-shirts, women's dresses out of old men's dress shirts.

Using the sewing stations and screenprinting station provided, swap-goers can emerge with some new wardrobe items — no trip to the mall required.

All leftover clothing from the event will be donated to Youth Services of Tulsa for homeless teens and young adults, Crowe said.

At 8 p.m., the designs will be
modeled in a fashion show for anyone who wants to participate. You can model your own creations, or ask friends to model them for you, Crowe said. Post-fashion show, local music acts Tops of Trees and Low Litas will play at a party featuring food, coffee and cocktails for purchase from the Collective's menu.
