Bank robbery, drug deal both unfunded
By SHANNON MUCHMORE World Staff Writer

Last Modified: 6/7/2009 4:24 AM
Tulsa police say what initially appeared to be a bank robbery Saturday morning turned out to be an attempt to collect payment for a drug deal.
Officers responded to a call from Chase Bank, 601 E. Apache St., just after 9 a.m. Two men had approached the counter and one, later identified as Walter Llewellen Hall, passed the teller a note saying he was being forced at gunpoint to withdraw money, according to a press release from the Tulsa Police Department.
At least six employees in the bank had moved away from the men and into a back room, where they called police and reported a robbery. They described a vehicle with two more men waiting outside.
Officers arrived on the scene and took the two men from the vehicle into custody.
They then got the other two suspects out of the bank and took them into custody as well, said Officer Jason Willingham.
Police said Hall owed the other man who went inside the bank, identified as Jeremy Woodfolk, money for drugs and told Woodfolk that he would take him to the bank to get it.
Bank employees did not see a weapon, police said.
Hall will be booked on six outstanding warrants and filing a false police report, according to the TPD press release.
Woodfolk will be booked on possession of a controlled drug.
The men from the vehicle outside the bank were not arrested and will not be charged, Willingham said.

It's about time bank employees became smart enough to do something about this type of situation. Most of the time, you read about how scared they are and can't remember a thing! Hats off the TPD. I hope these guys get locked up for life.

Take 'em to the trash-to-energy incinerator Monday morning... They'll know what to do with 'em.

@cherry74129 Obviously you have never had a gun waved in your face. I have been involved in three bank robberies where guns were shown and lets just say your mind processes millions of things in those few minutes. Kuddos to these employees for being aware of their surroundings and getting to a safe location.
Five years ago this month that an innocent women's life was taken and two others were shot during a bank robbery. None of them were given the time to hide. Those that did were drug out at gunpoint and by their hair. All they did was comply with the demands and they were still shot by ruthless rotten people. TPD caught those guys within 24 hours and they are now behind bars for life.

And the city councilors for this part of Tulsa wonder why they can't attract new business???? I know robberies happen all over Tulsa, but they happen much more frequently in North Tulsa. Business won't want to locate here until this issue is resolved.

There's no need for a trial or numerous hearings, it should be obvious to everyone these 4 thugs are guilty!!
They should all be sentenced immediately to long prison terms and hard labor!!
They are all criminals irregardless of their back rounds or childhood upbringings. They should be judged and punished based on their actions and lack of responsible behaviors!

Its a very sad commentary but our government and society has become too easy on criminals.
The penal systems in our country and state are focusing too much on rehabilitation of criminals while they need to focus more on punishment, hard punishment!!
Many countries in the world if you are caught stealing they will cut your hand off!!
Its high time Americans concentrate on punishing for crimes.

I know facts and data mean nothing to those who are motivated by their own racism...but most bank robberies do not occur in North Tulsa (see attached map). and Tan Man national data supports the facts...most bank robbers are white.
But a criminal is criminal regardless of race and no race has a monopoly on this anti-social behavior.

Culling the faulty DNA from the herd.....
Remember, next time, it's much smarter to rob a busy retail store; just as much money, and much less security, guards, silent alarms, bait money, cameras, etc.

I can see the trial now.
Look at those poor kids faces! They already feel bad, and realize what they did was wrong. There was no gun found, and they only did it because they couldn't get a job at the grocery store that doesn't exist in north Tulsa. Come on judgey, let them have it - 6 months probation if they promise to never, ever do anything bad again.

Wonder when these idiots will figure out that drugs are a one way to nowhere except trouble and misery. You have to have absolutely no common sense if you are using drugs. Just don't understand why kids want to self destruct with drugs.

I am just plain ole confused...apparently they were collecting on an outstanding drug debt. No attempt at robbing a bank...what a group of fools. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Good luck TPD

Webmeister. Apparently you have never worked in retail. I've worked in several large department stores in Tulsa and they all have cameras, undercover security guards lurking around and alarms. And the shoplifters, etc. always get caught.
Akili - you are correct most banks robberies happen in other parts of Tulsa than north Tulsa, but only because there are not that many banks in north Tulsa.
But your other comment Akili - "....no race has a monopoly on this anti-social behavior." You are wrong, the majority of crimes committed here in Tulsa the past couple of years have been committed by blacks.
