Man who killed two campers executed

McALESTER (AP) — A man who was convicted of fatally shooting two campers to death during a 1995 robbery in southern Oklahoma was put to death Thursday.
Michael P. DeLozier, 32, offered no last words before he received a lethal injection at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.DeLozier's breath hitched once as the lethal cocktail began to flow. Moments later, the color drained from his face.
DeLozier, who was 19 at the time of the killings, was executed for the Sept. 24, 1995, deaths of Orville Lewis Bullard, 60, and Paul Steven Morgan, 54. DeLozier and two other men ambushed the pair at their campsite along the Glover River, shot them and stole their pickup, a generator and other camping equipment, records show.
DeLozier set fire to the camp, sparking a blaze that burned both bodies beyond recognition, records show.
Before the execution, DeLozier's attorneys released a statement on his behalf in which he admitted killing the two men and apologized to the victims' families.
"I cannot wait to finish paying this debt I owe so I can apologize to the souls of Mr. Morgan and Mr. Bullard and ask them to forgive me for my taking their lives," he wrote.
DeLozier received his last meal Thursday at the prison — a T-bone steak, french fries and a large salad. Last meals are limited to $15 and must be available for purchase in the McAlester area.
DeLozier was the third inmate put to death in Oklahoma this year. No other executions are scheduled.

I have to ask: what happened to the other 2 "men" who were with DeLozier when he shot and burned the victims?? Are my tax dollars supporting them? I am glad the families now have some closure to this. What a loss for everyone.

"No other executions are scheduled", how many people are on Death Row? I know there has to be plenty.

Glenney Dale Madison and Nathaniel Madison, also were convicted in connection with the two men’s deaths. Nathaniel Madison, 31, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, received a 10-year sentence and testified against DeLozier. He was released from prison in 2000, prison records show.
Glenney Madison, 32, was convicted of first-degree murder and is serving a life prison sentence.

I will never understand why criminals kill when they are robbing someone. I guess they aren't the smartest which is why they are criminals.
