Relatives of homeless man who died are sought
FAMILY CONTACTS SOUGHT
Josiah Wilson Singbard:
The 53-year-old man had visited both the Day Center for the Homeless and The Salvation Army, but he never provided any accurate family contact information. A chaplaincy corps official said there was no indication that Singbard's death resulted from foul play.

Police are searching for the family of a man who was found dead a week ago in an outbuilding on the grounds of the Vernon Chapel AME Church.
Josiah Wilson Singbard, 53, was found dead Aug. 19 in a small building next to the church at 311 N. Greenwood Ave., said Danny Lynchard, director of the Tulsa Police/Fire Chaplaincy Corps.
Singbard had set up a home for himself in the outbuilding, and many church members took food to him from time to time, Lynchard said.
He had visited both the Day Center for the Homeless and The Salvation Army, yet he never provided any accurate family contact information, Lynchard said.
There are no indications that his death resulted from foul play, he said.
Singbard was black, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200 pounds. He had gray hair.
Anyone with information about his family is asked to call Lynchard at 596-9138.

Being homeless can be result from numerous issues. During a time such as this, a family should forget about the past, forget about the horrible things that may have occurred and provide a proper burial for their family member. Come on people, this man did not just fall out of the sky. He was someones child and he had a family. The final resting place of "family" should not be in a pauper's grave. Rest in peace Josiah. My prayer is that your family will come to claim you and provide you with a proper burial.

That is a Indian and my heart and prayers are with the family of this man. And I meet that man before he had a sweet heart. I would give him Money not becasue he was Homeless. I gave it because you will see him trying to work for his money. And all people did was judge him. God had his hand on that man and he will be remebered. That was a Angel

True Centrist.
Also I read somewhere that people are not claiming family that have died and are leaving them in the Funeral Homes because of the economy. They just cant afford to bury them.
That is very sad.

I think the journalist said "was black" in past tense since he is deceased. The article said he never gave any accurate family info. which tells me he either had a mental illness or did not want anyone to contact his family, perhaps for good reason, maybe he was betrayed in some way. I know I have a few family members I would rather not have to see again.

This is so sad. No home and now no idea who or where his family might be. Rest in peace, Josiah.

I hope they can find family members. Sad to think of someone who has no one to mourn their passing.

He once belonged to someone. How sad in a country with so much(even in this economy),that a human would be so alone.Maybe forgotten by family or perhaps still looking for him. What happened for him to come to this. How many more like him?

53 years is NOT old. Not long ago he was in his forties. He probably had a health issue that he did'nt have insurance or the means to have treated. Kudos for the church members who provided food.
