A former Tulsa teacher and child mentor must face trial on five felony counts, a judge ruled Friday.

At the close of a preliminary hearing, John Gisler was bound over for trial on three counts of child sexual abuse and single counts of possessing child pornography and lewd molestation.

The molestation count was added Friday at a prosecutor's request based on preliminary hearing testimony.

The molestation and child-abuse counts involve a boy who is now 17 who has indicated that Gisler was his "Big Brother" for more than 3 1/2 years.

Gisler, 41, was fired last month from his teaching job at Whitney Middle School.

A spokesman for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma said in July that Gisler was no longer associated with that program.
