The final approval of Tulsa businessman Howard Barnett as the next president of Oklahoma State University-Tulsa is on the agenda for Friday's meeting in Stillwater of the Oklahoma A&M regents.

Barnett, one of two finalists for the post, was approved by the OSU-Tulsa trustees at a special meeting Tuesday.

He would succeed Gary Trennepohl, who after 10 years as president will return to the OSU faculty full time.

Langston update: Also Friday, Langston University President JoAnn Haysbert will give A&M regents an update on the safety precautions being taken at the campus after four people — none of whom are students — were shot and injured last month during a party in the university's gymnasium.

Langston announced soon afterward that it would restrict access to campus with security checkpoints.
