Guts Church's Nightmare to be held

Guts Church's annual Nightmare spookhouse with a message runs Thursdays through Saturdays in October at 9120 E. Broken Arrow Expressway.

Tickets are $8, and express passes are $15. Doors open at 7 p.m. Children must be 12 or older to enter. All proceeds go to the Tulsa Fire and Police departments.

Some 45,000 people are expected to walk through the Nightmare this year, a graphic, reality-based presentation of issues facing young people, such as drunk-driving-related car accidents, gang violence, drugs and terrorism.

Church spokeswoman Sarah Tucker said this year's Nightmare will assemble the best presentations from the last 16 years.

Tulsa Together service is Sunday

Tulsa Together, the annual service promoting racial harmony, will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1915 E. Third St., with guest speaker the Rev. Herbert D. Edmondson III, pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church.

The event is held each year on Worldwide Communion Sunday, the first Sunday of October.

Music will be by the Morning Star Baptist Church choir, Edison High School Chorale and soloist Ernestine Dillard.

In addition to the service, several pastors of predominantly black and predominantly white churches will exchange pulpits for that Sunday, said the Rev. W.R. Casey, president of the Christian Ministers Alliance, one of the organizers of the event. Other sponsors are the Tulsa Metro Baptist Network and the Disciples of Christ of Northeast Oklahoma.

Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor and other city officials have indicated they will attend the service.

CROP Hunger Walk will take place Sunday

The annual Tulsa CROP Hunger Walk is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in downtown Tulsa.

More than 200 people from several Tulsa-area churches and organizations are expected to participate in the walk, which begins at First Christian Church, 913 S. Boulder Ave.

Tulsans will join 2,000 residents of other cities nationwide proclaiming solidarity with people around the world who walk to live because they have no other transportation. The walks are designed to raise money and awareness of world hunger.

'Jane Roe' of Roe v. Wade to address rally in Tulsa

Norma McCorvey, the "Jane Roe" in the historic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case that legalized abortion in the United States, will speak at a pro-life rally next weekend in Tulsa.

The rally is 9-11 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Garden of Hope, a Catholic-owned park across the street from Reproductive Services, Tulsa's only abortion clinic, 6136 E. 32nd Place.

The rally marks the midway point of the 40 Days for Life campaign, with people praying around the clock every day at the park for an end to abortion.

Other speakers will be the Rev. Briane Turley, rector of Church of the Holy Spirit, Anglican, in Tulsa, and Beverly Bryan.

The campaign is being held in 240 U.S. communities, with Catholic and Protestant churches participating.

And don't forget that the Athiests will be worshiping themselves tomorrow at 3PM. And at 4 they will retroactivly abort themselves to show solidarity with the pro-choice movement.

Oh, that made a lot of sense. Isn't worship a religious thing, and since Atheists are not religious they do not worship!?
