A Mounds man was killed late Friday night when his vehicle struck another head-on in Okmulgee County.
Dead is Jeremy M. West, 33.
Around 10:44 p.m., deputies from Tulsa, Creek and Okmulgee counties and officers from Beggs responded after the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was alerted by multiple calls of a vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 near 201st Street South, according to the OHP.
Before law enforcement could reach the vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by West, it struck a 2008 GMC pickup driven by Rowdy R. Hartley, 24, of Weatherford, head-on near 241st Street South, troopers said.
Both men were pinned in their vehicles for around 20 minutes, and were extracted by Beggs and Mounds fire departments, according to the OHP.
Hartley, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was taken to St. Francis Hospital with head, internal and leg injuries, while West, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
