Hospitality House of Tulsa plans party Friday

Hospitality House of Tulsa will hold a Peek-n-Treat party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at its Welcome Center at 1135 S. Victor Ave.

The Hospitality House, which provides lodging to families who have loved ones in Tulsa-area hospitals, is revealing its new logo at the party as well as announcing its participation in Disney's "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day" program.

Starting in 2010, the first 1 million people who volunteer a day to a participating nonprofit organization will receive a free day pass to a Walt Disney theme park.

People who are interested in the Disney program can schedule their volunteer activities at the Hospitality House on Friday.

BA 'Night Out Against Crime' slated Saturday

BROKEN ARROW — The "Night Out Against Crime with Fun and Games" will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The gathering is sponsored by the Police Department and Main Street merchants at the Farmers Market, 418 S. Main St.

The Police Department will feature its rollover simulator, Special Operations Team, bike patrol, communications, animal control, K-9, crime scene investigator and motorcycle units.

Also on hand will be the Fire Department, the "Vince" and "Larry" crash dummies, McGruff the crime-fighting dog, nonprofit agencies and candy.

Broken Arrow police crime-prevention specialist Lisa Ford said the event has always been on the Saturday before
Halloween unless Halloween falls on a Saturday, as it does this year.

When Halloween does occur on a Saturday, Ford said it typically adds to the event's growing popularity, with an extra 5,000 to 6,000 people.

"Every year it grows bigger because I think parents are looking for a nice safe event to take their kids," she said.
