VINITA — The Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee has opened a third community-based outpatient clinic for veterans enrolled in VA health care at 269 S. Seventh St. in Vinita.

Scott Craft, administrative officer for the Vinita clinic, said veterans in Mayes, Craig, Ottawa, Nowata and Rogers counties will now have a closer location to receive their care.

"Several veterans who were getting their care in Tulsa or Muskogee have transferred their care to the Vinita clinic," Craft said. "If other veterans want to switch their care to here, they need to talk with their provider first."

About 25 VA staff will be able to provide primary care, mental health services, social work and lab work to the 4,200 veterans it will serve. The clinic accepts walk-in patients.

Veterans wishing to enroll for VA health care may call the clinic at (918) 713-5404 or contact the VA Business Office in Muskogee at (918) 577-3000, ext. 1535, or toll-free at (888) 397-8387, ext. 1535.

The public is invited to attend a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Vinita site at 11 a.m. Dec. 7.
