A Wagoner man died early Saturday in a pickup crash on a county road, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Jeffery Wayne Brown, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene about three miles east and four miles north of Wagoner.

The accident happened just after midnight, the patrol reported.

The driver, Keith Lowell Wilson, 25, was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa and admitted in stable condition. Alcohol was believed to be involved, the OHP report indicated.

The men were in an eastbound pickup that missed a curve, ran off the road and overturned several times, the report said.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, and the pickup did not have airbags, the OHP said.

Intoxicated? Another alcohol related death I presume? But it's legal to drink. I never read about a pot related death. But it's illegal to smoke pot. I don't understand us.

Condolences to Mr. Brown's family and friends.

Must have been some overwhelming evidence to make a statement about intoxication that soon.

2ndjoyce, most of the time pot related deaths are classified as industrial accidents and fall under OSHA. A person on weed may be able to drive but put them in a steel mill and the change in reaction time is enough for them to be crushed in something. When I worked at Roberson Steel a guy droped a bridge section on his foot. His toxicology report per OSHA came back positive for mary jane.
Remember the band Guess Who? She smoked an acid laced joint and did a Peter Pan out a window of a high rise apartment in West Hollyweird, CA.

She's come undone
She found a mountain that was far too high
And when she found out she couldn't fly
Mama, it was too late
It's too late
She's gone too far
She's lost herself

You know that THC (the chemical in pot that get's you "high")can be traced in a drug test after 30-45 days of the last time the person smoked pot. Just because a person tests positive for TCH, doesn't mean that they are high at the time. As far as I know, there is no such test.

2ndjoyce you are an insensitive fool! Dont presume anything until you know all the circumstances as to the cause of the wreck. Jeff was my son in law. My daughter, was hurt by your comment. Jeff was not drunk. He was unable to drive due to his back and neck surgery so Keith did the driving. The curve at Whitehorn Cove fire department is very sharp and dangerous at 45 mph or higher. I've never taken a drink in my life nor have I ever been given a traffic ticket, but I have almost gone off the road at that curve even at 40 mph. There are no safety rails on that curve. i'll tell you about Jeff. Jeff was a very brave and courageous man. He was at one time Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief at a local voluntary fire department. He would enter homes in flames and do everything he could to save that home. He saved many lives, animals, and property of those families. He was a dedicated fireman. He loved to help people. He would give his own shirt off his back to help someone who needed help. He was admired by many people, and loved by so many more. The seat belts in the truck were not functioning correctly as it was an old pickup and police officer said it would not have mattered if Jeff wore a seat belt because of the way the truck rolled and landed on the passenger side. I am thankful that his friend James was the fireman who stayed by him holding his hand while they tried to free Jeff from the truck. Jeff is in God's hands now. I am sure he is trying to convince God to let him go to "Hades" and put out that fire, too. After all He was a dedicated fireman and E.M.T. So go smoke your pot, and rot your brain even more. My daughter and I have forgiven Keith for his part in Jeff's death. It was just an unfortunate accident on a dangerous curve. Jeff will always be in our hearts and mind. He will be missed deeply by many whose lives he touched.
