Crowds flocked to downtown Tulsa on Wednesday morning under clear skies and in unseasonably warm weather to honor service men and women in the annual Veterans Day parade.

"We come every year to support our veterans and wave our flags," spectator Gayle Hartsuck said as she waited along Boulder Avenue for the parade to begin.

Hartuck said her favorite part of the parade is the float with Purple Heart honorees.

"It's very touching," she said. "You get goose bumps and stuff."

Kevin Burr said he also goes to the parade every year to support military families.

He and his wife brought their two young children to watch the festivities because, "it's never too early for them to start learning tradition," Burr said.

"It's just a way of us showing our support for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice," he said.
