Man killed in shooting by school; man sought
WANTED
Cedric Jackson:
Police say he might be headed to Slick in Creek County.

One man was killed and another was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a shooting near an elementary school as classes were letting out.
Police said Monday night that they are looking for Cedric Jackson, who they believe was present during the shooting.
The 31-year-old man who died was in the driveway of a house at 48th Street North and Yorktown Place when police and medics arrived. He was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Sgt. Brian Hill said.
The house is diagonally across the street from Penn Elementary School, 2138 E. 48th St. North.
Students and teachers were leaving for the day when the shooting occurred about 4 p.m. and were directly in the line of fire, but no one was injured, Hill said.
School officials could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening.
The other man who was shot was driven from the scene in a Dodge Durango, which police pulled over in the 5200 block of North Peoria Avenue. He was taken by ambulance from there to a hospital, Hill said.
EMSA spokeswoman Tina Wells said that man is about 26 and was in serious condition when he was taken to the hospital.
Both men had multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, Hill said.
Police were interviewing a witness at the Detective Division downtown, he said.
The resident of the house where the fatally injured man was found was home at the time but did not witness the shooting, Hill said.
Jackson, 19, might be headed to Slick, in Creek County, in a red four-door Ford Escort with Oklahoma license plate 075-BOD, police said.
He is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 240 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Anyone with information about the homicide or Jackson's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS, send a text message to police or submit an online tip at
tulsaworld.com/crimestoppers
.
The Crime Commission offers rewards for information leading to arrests, and tipsters can remain anonymous.

What is going on in Tulsa with the murder rate???
Let's hope our new mayor gives priority to this issue.

Something is drastically wrong. We are reading way too many stories along this line.

What do you expect a new mayor to be able to do? When idiots decide to shoot one another, bullets will fly. The police cannot be everywhere, they cannot read minds and know when or where idiots will strike. A new mayor will not be able to gaze into the crystals and affect a change of any size when Tulsa is in the process of downsizing the police force.

This is a consequence of a failing to fund police and prisons properly. People in their thirties who have jobs and abide by the law don't kill each other in the middle of the afternoon.

I agree with Finch. No person or numbers of person can fortell what or where a crime is going to occurr. I strongly disagree with Angry. Normal everyday people with jobs do committ these crimes right along with all the worthless thugs.

I know we don't have the money but, that area of town could use some intensive video surveillance and firearm or gun shot microphone tracking equipment. It might be helpful to increase the number of division sub precincts.

Wishing won't make it so. Generations of welfare mothers making babies to get bigger checks, neglecting and abusing these kids and building their anger and resentment. There are no consequences for not raising your children properly. Just exacty when did we become such a violent society? What generation is to blame? Better yet, what the hell can we do about it??

Have a tent city and fence it in for all of the people that want to suck the system dry.

DB John asked a good question, "What can we do to prevent
this?" Well, this isn't politically correct, but we can start encouraging people to not have babies unless they are married. Almost all of these criminals and gang members come from fatherless homes. The lack of a father in the home is a great source of lots of society's misery.
We can also limit access of violent video games and movies to kids. We could go back to teaching that there is "right" and there is "wrong." Like I said, this isn't politically correct. I am praying for the families and school children who have to live in these war zones within America. Sad, really sad.

Skippy and Barbara - I agree 100% - it all goes back to the complete absence of sireing children within a married union. Women are selling themselves cheaply by spawning one after another, without marital benefit - hell, probably not even a decent dinner before or after. That they have so little regard for themselves is one thing, but to insist that their offspring be raised in a less than optimum one-parent household is selfish and stupid.

Thank God none of the students or teachers were hurt or killed. Let's all pray they catch the shooter. What Tulsa needs is an old fashioned revival. It is greatly disturbing.
