Man killed in shooting by school; man sought
WANTED
Cedric Jackson:
Police say he might be headed to Slick in Creek County.

One man was killed and another was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a shooting near an elementary school as classes were letting out.
Police said Monday night that they are looking for Cedric Jackson, who they believe was present during the shooting.
The 31-year-old man who died was in the driveway of a house at 48th Street North and Yorktown Place when police and medics arrived. He was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Sgt. Brian Hill said.
The house is diagonally across the street from Penn Elementary School, 2138 E. 48th St. North.
Students and teachers were leaving for the day when the shooting occurred about 4 p.m. and were directly in the line of fire, but no one was injured, Hill said.
School officials could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening.
The other man who was shot was driven from the scene in a Dodge Durango, which police pulled over in the 5200 block of North Peoria Avenue. He was taken by ambulance from there to a hospital, Hill said.
EMSA spokeswoman Tina Wells said that man is about 26 and was in serious condition when he was taken to the hospital.
Both men had multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, Hill said.
Police were interviewing a witness at the Detective Division downtown, he said.
The resident of the house where the fatally injured man was found was home at the time but did not witness the shooting, Hill said.
Jackson,
19, might be headed to Slick, in Creek County, in a red four-door Ford Escort with Oklahoma license plate 075-BOD, police said.
He is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 240 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Anyone with information about the homicide or Jackson's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS, send a text message to police or submit an online tip at
tulsaworld.com/crimestoppers
.
The Crime Commission offers rewards for information leading to arrests, and tipsters can remain anonymous.

This is a consequence of a failing to fund police and prisons properly. People in their thirties who have jobs and abide by the law don't kill each other in the middle of the afternoon.

I believe we should have severe punishments for these types of crimes. We need to show these low lifes that we are not going to take their crap anymore. Throw them all in jail, no bail, no chance for parole, etc. I dont care if the jails are overcrowded. If they wanted a bed to themselves or privacy, then they shouldnt be commiting crimes. I think if you are guilty and go to jail, you got no say so in how you are housed.

I know we don't have the money but, that area of town could use some intensive video surveillance and firearm or gun shot microphone tracking equipment. It might be helpful to increase the number of division sub precincts.

Gadfly........put the pipe down and step away from it. Please, ohhh please tell me how gun insurance will slow down crime. Please cover these points for me. 1. criminals do not register their weapons. 2. criminals do not even pay for home or car insurance. 3. criminals do not think twice before they shoot you in the head for $3.00 so why would they care about a fine?
Freakin' idiot.

Gadfly.....forgot something. Do you remember a story from the bible in which Jesus is taken in to custody after being betrayed by judas? In the garden, when the Roman soldiers go to detain Jesus, one of Jesus' followers draws his SWORD and cuts off the ear of one of the Romans. You should really know your bible facts before you spout off in public.

Ha. Welcome to North Tulsa. Sad story. And the worst part about it, is it is going to continue to happen until someone takes action to get these "gangsters" off the streets.

another punk hit by another punks bullet. let them all shoot each other and that might help put an end to all this. even if the cops do catch the ones thats been doind all this and that, they will be out in no time and be back on the streets. they need to lock all the thugs up they catch and throw away the key and dont bother to have a lenghty trial and then let them go...NO FREE RIDES FOR ANY THUG...

Elusive; probably was a TPS teacher or student - or at least an alumni.
Please do not go spouting off these assumptions. I am highly offended as a TPS teacher for you to make such a ridiculous comment about myself, my coworkers, and my students.
North Tulsa needs help...

DB John asked a good question, "What can we do to prevent
this?" Well, this isn't politically correct, but we can start encouraging people to not have babies unless they are married. Almost all of these criminals and gang members come from fatherless homes. The lack of a father in the home is a great source of lots of society's misery.
We can also limit access of violent video games and movies to kids. We could go back to teaching that there is "right" and there is "wrong." Like I said, this isn't politically correct. I am praying for the families and school children who have to live in these war zones within America. Sad, really sad.

Require all weapons to carry insurance -- the same way motor vehicles do.
Will manditory gun insurance end gun violence? No. But will it dramatically reduce gun violence? Most certainly.
WWJD? Every true Chrisitian knows this answer. Jesus will not allow guns in heaven. Remember: none of Jesus's disciples carried swords or spears.

Skippy and Barbara - I agree 100% - it all goes back to the complete absence of sireing children within a married union. Women are selling themselves cheaply by spawning one after another, without marital benefit - hell, probably not even a decent dinner before or after. That they have so little regard for themselves is one thing, but to insist that their offspring be raised in a less than optimum one-parent household is selfish and stupid.

I agree with Finch. No person or numbers of person can fortell what or where a crime is going to occurr. I strongly disagree with Angry. Normal everyday people with jobs do committ these crimes right along with all the worthless thugs.
