Authorities found the makings of a meth lab in a Sapulpa home that was destroyed by fire late Thursday night.

A passerby noticed the blaze at a house in the 300 block of South Hawthorne Street about 11:35 p.m. Flames were billowing from the front and side windows when firefighters arrived, Fire Marshall Don Acree said.

Neighbors said several people got into a vehicle and sped away before authorities arrived. Firefighters also found material used for meth production in the house, Acree said.

After putting out the fire, the agency called police to clear out the lab. The house was destroyed and damage was estimated at $40,000, Acree said. Matt Barnard

You would think that the esteemed folks that make this stuff would learn from others and stop; however, this would require some sense of intelligence and decision making abilities.

Did the neighbors know the make of the car or who lived at the residence? They drove away not caring about the destruction or if anyone in surrounding houses got hurt. Wow

People not being responsible for their actions. They burn down a house and then just run away.

I'm going to have to assume this was a rent house (or empty house). I can't stand rent houses, every last one of them (in my neighborhood) are perpetually involved with crime, violence, drugs, or have trashy tenants.

That is amazing.

And to note this event. Glad the lab was destroyed. Great job fire! (and the idiots that were trying to cook)

Ryanoceros, "perpetually involved with crime, violence, drugs, or have trashy tenants. "

When will everyone learn that you can't generalize?

I rent in a "shack" in a "hood" because I'm recovering from a layoff and other financial issues. (I'll be moving very soon to a nicer neighborhood).

While many of my neighbors are, we are not criminals, addicts, violent, or trashy.

Don't generalize. The animals in this story are all of the above, we are not.

There were people in the mid 80's, before meth was hardly heard of, who were saying this needed to be looked into and the main ingredient put behind counters. The addiction was so super strong it was a disaster on the way. The pharma and their lobbiests paid whoever you pay to get your way. They have continued to sell the main ingredient and make massive profit. All of these methheads seem brain damaged after they get so far gone. I wouldn't expect them to do anything but freak out and flee. The safty of themselves and others is probably the last thing on their minds.

Right on, 'fatdude!

I'm no violent, trashy, criminal addict. I DID lose my job, was widowed and evicted in one year, and then my house burned down the next year.

I've rented the same home now for almost 4 years and have never been late even a day on my rent. I hope to buy a home as soon as my situation has recovered enough to allow it.

KMA, Ryano, or stop generalizing!

I said "in my neighborhood." Obviously neither of you live in my neighborhood do you. I'm not generalizing, I am stating fact from my personal observations. Last time somebody tried to rezone a property in my area so they could make it a multi-family rental, there was a flood of us at downtown to protest it given our first hand experiences with the renters in our area. The person that had requested the change withdrew immediately upon seeing the unexpected resistance that came to fight. My problem is not only with trashy renters (again, in my neighborhood), but the people that rent to these scum repeatedly.

Okay, Ryano, sorry but I'm a lil' sensitive.

And thanks, 007, things are looking up!

Just bring your wife, 'fatdude, many hands make light work, lol!

Hey,...what's the deal Sapulpa....?

Are you trying to take Tulsa's hard-earned title of "meth sanctuary" away from T-town....?

What...? we lay off a few cops and Sapulpa tries to take over high crime levels from us?

I agree not all renters are bad. I rent an apartment (high end) and I'm not trashy, a druggie or alcoholic. I'm a 61 year old white female, hard working (when I had a job), mom of 3 grown hardworking sons and 3 grandchildren.

Due to some financial problems over the past 15 years and poor job choice my husband made, we are not able to own our own home. (Though had I known they were giving home loans to every person the past 20 years, we might have purchased a home). Though we did own 2 homes in Tulsa in the 1970s and 1980s. So I lease a somewhat expensive apartment just so I won't have to live around the riff-raff in bad neighborhoods.

You can never generalize. But I understand Ryanoceros, what you meant. :)

For the record, I have been a renter many times myself. I do apologize if I caused anyone grief. Now that the air is clear, have a nice weekend all! TGIF
